frick all the nonsense.
9 game SEC schedule.
3 permanent rivals.
6 and 6 home and away.
You play everyone every 2 yrs. Every 4 yr player will have played home and away v everyone.
Simple.

do not confuse that with a playoff - which is well on its way to killing college football.
BCS model was a far better way to preserve the regular season/bowl system as well as putting the two best teams together in a winner-take-all.

We’re not using some euro soccer style plan for division’s. There will be an east and there will be a west. If you are last and want to win it, get better.

Alabama and Auburn to the East, Mizzou to the West. 10 SEC games a year, problem solved.

If the college football playoff is expanded then just drop the SEC championship game.
Maybe too much money involved for the SEC office to let it go, unfortunately.

No way they will allow a division to be called Dixie…
But the only way I’ve seen that really makes sense is the 9 games 3 permanent 6 alternating between home and away and teams.

The easiest to preserve the TN-AL and AU-UGA rivalries is:
SECE: Bama, AU, UGA, Fla, Carolina, UK, UTenn, Vandy
SECW: Okla, Texass, LSU, Aggies, Arkie, Mizzou, State, OMiss.
Play your 7 division rivals annually and 2 from the other division that rotate every year. 9 SEC games. 5 at home one year and 4 at home the next.

This is perfect. Send Mizzou off to conference USA where they belong.

With those division alot of the rivals are already covered.
You would have 3 locked cross divison opponents to keep natural rivals (LSU vs Florida), (Kentucky vs Tennessee), ( Georgia vs Auburn)
..etc etc
Have 3 more random SEC games. 9 conference games and you would play every team once in 4 years.

I disagree because you're leaving it up to chance that NOBODY repeats the same position (odd or even) from the prior year.
We need a format that cycles fairly & evenly for ALL teams...including protected rivalry games.
Not to mention HOW you're going to decide same records with no common opponents nor H2H.

It pretty much has to go to pods. Play the 3 in your pod and 2 each on a rotation from the other 3 pods and you have 9 games for football. Yes you're going to lose some games that recently have been good matchups/rivalries, and we might (gasp) lose the Bama-Tennessee game, but whatever. Hasn't been a game in over a decade. Keep your in-state rivalries in tact, which means Egg Bowl/Iron Bowl and Vandy-UT, and will add in Texas vs A&M again annually. Plus this way every 4 year class at a school will get a chance to play every school in the conference.
Drawback is WHICH rivalries are NOT going to be kept annual?
Posted on 4/18/22 at 9:33 pm to ChromaticTide
No divisions. Everyone has three permanent opponents and 6 rotating games, This puts every SEC team in every SEC stadium every 4 years.

I think they end up just keeping the rival games as perm games, then rotate all the other spots. I think it'll require 3 permanent games max and leave 5(ideally IMO, but it will probably be 6) minimum games to rotate.
But who is a school's "must play" list? Personally, I don't see any connection between UGA & SC (would rather have Tenn. or Miss.)...but SC would probably say UGA. So who wins the debate?

I sure wouldn’t miss those trips to Columbia. Hotter than hell and it would be hard to find a more depressing place. They give A&M some serious competition in that category.
