I'm still trying to make an NIL/portal connection to all this. This is everywhere now. Every team has a scroll for an injury list.

Telling someone that they need to sit as precautionary measure won't open you up to liability.

Didn't save Oklahoma. Now you're back to playing defense. I have not seen a hybrid beep-beep team win it all yet.

Even Lincoln Riley is trying to get religion and figure out how to play to his defense.

Just make the player sit for the quarter if a starter. If a sub who rarely plays, fine the coach

The Ole Miss thing was so offensive and egregious. I've seen less shade under an oak tree in summer.

The weakness in that is the Lane's of the world will run a walk-on out there for one play with instructions to flop. Who cares if he's lost for the remainder of the possession?

The rule needs to drive a wedge between the personal interest of coach and player. The player needs to say "frick that, I'm not flopping...", and take that shady strategy away from the coach's aresnal.

How about we actually show we care about player safety and remove these fast-paced offenses from the game? Allow the refs to dictate the pace of the game rather than the team with the football. Of course this idea won't go over too well, and I'm sure to get a lot of downvotes, because certain teams would lose their competitive advantage if this were to happen. However, it will definitely cut down on flops.

Most any player who gets in the game will want to play - not flop himself off the field. There's no point in it.

Unless you can get a pure fanboy who's only for the good of the team - and send out a 5'9" 240lb kid to play cornerback for one play.

I'm not going to downvote. It's a logical and reasonable solution. There's nothing wrong with running a play when *both* sides are ready, rather than trying to ambush.

If I thought anyone would consider this, I would support it too.

All you have to do is make them sit the remainder of the current drive.

seems simple and practical enough to me

But then you have designated floppers who only come into flop with no intention of playing.

I don't exactly see that a coach would chance this. First of all, you have to be projecting that you will want to flop, one play ahead of time.

So what if you send in a flopper and the offense burns you for a TD? Well there goes that...

Idk, I question whether coaches could or would work it that way.

As long as there are hyper fast offenses designed to take advantage of the defense by preventing subbing there will be flopping.

It’s the only counter the defense has.

You have to start somewhere. Flopper must sit out minimum of 5 plays. Make it carry over to next series, quarter, half or game to fulfil 5 play sit. Adjust from there over time if needed.

I think they should make the player sit out a quarter or half.

Banning Lane Kiffen from coaching would fix 95% of flopping in NCAA.

The boy is a disgrace to sportsmanship.

Make a flopper sit out for ten minutes. I guess that means make anyone who goes down sit out ten minutes or five minutes but a minimum of five or ten plays. Really injured people will sit out for that long anyway. Slightly injured guys will get up quicker.

This.

For those of you who favor the offense being able to run "hurry-up", but still don't like flopping - think of it this way:

In baseball, what if the pitcher just threw the ball when he was ready? No concern for the readiness (or even presence) of the batter? They control this for a reason.

Football probably needs to figure something out. Rest his soul, but wasn't Mike Leach the pioneer of all this?
