And this year the MLB will have nets covering all foul areas after multiple foul ball injuries resulting, just like college baseball began doing last season.
Foul balls are a persistent but relatively rare injury to suffer as a part of the fan experience. COVID on the other hand can and does spread and isn’t a normal part of the assumed risks of attending games.

For that reason, I think there are two options: (1) open it up to a full house, letting all season ticket holders who want a refund or to have their payments applied to next year, without penalty; or, (2) play in front of students only, because they can be spread out however you like.
But a third option (that I’m getting at) is the folks in suites sit in their suites but the rest of the high ranking season ticket holders (I.e. folks who have accumulated high donor scores over decades of writing checks of varying amounts) get first pick of the allotment made available on down through the rest of the season ticket holder list until all supply is dispersed.
Entirely possible every school is left to its own devices to do as they please but that’s how I’d imagine UGA and others going about it to meet their bottom dollar needs.

False equivalence. You don’t take that fractured cheekbone from a foul ball home and spread it to others.
That may very well be true, but it's completely irrelevant to the discussion of whether or not you can effectively manage only 25,000 in BDS.

It's certainly going to vary. At A&M, we've got about 10,000 club seats. In the extreme social distancing models they've shown, we couldn't get much more than that in the stadium. I think the guys that are paying $3000 per seat aren't going to feel like getting tickets to bleacher seats in the stratosphere is like winning the lottery, when the guys that pay $4000 per seat get actual club seats. At A&M, the seating is just too price sensitive for any kind of reshuffling to cause less of an outcry than simply telling season ticket holders, we're going to limit it to students because we can't give most of you anything like what you're paying for.

I think stadium type and design plays a factor and A&M is essentially playing in a brand new stadium that caters quite welL to something like this. Y’all could probably manage about 35-40k total in your stadium if not more compared to lesser numbers for older stadiums like Sanford which simply isn’t laid out and built with spacing and ease of passage in mind
Newer and recently renovated stadiums have put greater emphasis on club seating which is basically designed to distance groups away from the rest of the crowd anyway. Important too will be location of the stadium on a campus. Sanford all but requires parking all over campus and downtown and walking to the dead middle of campus. It’s a lot more difficult to crowd control ingress and egress at UGA than other stadiums that aren’t built into ravines and between campus buildings

well i think there should be some type of warning to use best judgement... but why should students and band worry about it all under 23.. its the older alumni that should stay home..

Never been about the young and healthy but their classmates/roommates who have asthma, diabetes, cancer, etc or their professors or campus staff they come into contact with on a regular basis (like food service staff). Question is how do you protect those people who live and work on campus And to what end would full crowds on campus (and student attendance) impact the vulnerable even if they stayed away

Don’t bus the nursing home and hospice crowd to the game and it will be fine. It a roommate is that sensitive to illness maybe online classes in a more controlled environment is best for them.

At LSU we've been preparing for a pandemic like this for years by playing to an empty stadium in the 2nd half. The Tigers will be prepared if this happens. And you all used to like to make fun of us.

Just from a manpower standpoint, crowd enforcement is next to impossible. Let's take Georgia-Alabama @ BDS. 25,000 fans. Instead of a normal 5,000 visitor allotment, Georgia gets 1,250. There will likely be thousands more who show up on campus
Start with the students. Does anyone in their right mind think that the students are going to stay six feet apart from each other? Guys and their dates? Drunk frat guys? Then take all the rednecks sitting in the upper reaches of the NN and SS enzone sections...they're just going to stay there when there are hundreds and hundreds of empty seats between the 30 yard lines? I doubt that Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, etc., have the manpower to deploy in the stadium to keep people seated where they are supposed to.
Real simple
Azzholes that don't comply with the new Stadium rules on spacing get their azzes booted and put on a list where they won't be allowed to return as long as we have these spacing rules

The only azzholes will be the hacks that put these stupid rules in place

there will most likely be fans in stands but attendance will be reduced im buying tickets to auburn/alcorn state next month

That eliminates ALL BAMA WOMEN as their butts take up 1-1/4 seats and would screw the pooch on realistic six foot spacing

ain't happening in college station

Just fill the stadiums up to normal capacity. CDC has came out with a new estimated death rate of 0.26% while the common flu is around 0.1%. There is no reason for this shutdown madness to continue.

I agree. It's impractical to create physical barriers in the stadium to maintain social distancing. The same with restricting access to campus.
Who really wants to be near someone yelling at the top of their lung, expelling aerosolized fluids?
If the season is played, it will be played in empty stadiums.

Not to be inconsiderate.. seriously it’s a dangerous time for certain individuals.. however should the higher at risk group be responsible and stay home. Why should the 85-90% that’s not at mortal risk have to.
I know this comes off a little rude. I’m not trying to be, but I’m just not sure everything should stay shut down , when the at risk groups should just self quarantine and be responsible. If you are a college student with asthma; do online classes from home and be safe, I understand it sucks. It shouldn’t mean all other students who may only get a slight cough or no symptoms completely change their life.

Of the people who have already purchased season tickets, how will they determine which quarter gets in? I thinks it'll be an all or nothing deal. I've purchased my tickets already. I expect to get in if anyone else is allowed to be in the stands.
