OM should be in the once every 3 or 4 years tier.
3 Access Bowls in the last decade. That is basically the same thing.

Just seeing this listed out fricking depresses me. Making the playoffs will no longer be an achievement.
It cheapens shite, and now we will have shite teams crowing about making the playoffs.

Well only 8 teams played the sport for the playoffs in the current system. It gives 121 other teams that want a bigger playoff. So you are out numbered.

Did you say the same when we went from a 2 team playoff to a 4 team playoff?

A Georgia fan gatekeeping the playoffs, when they would still be nursing 1980 if the playoff hadn't expanded to 4 teams.

Yeah I'm gonna have to go ahead and Homer it up here.
We would have made a 12 team playoff in 2003, 2008 2009, 2014, 2015, and 2020.
Feel like we deserve a tier bump.

Fairly realistic tier system.......
Looking at that actually makes me a little more in favor of a 12 team system than I used to be. I have always been concerned with devaluing the best regular season in sports, but it is easy to say that as an Alabama fan.
The truth is that the 4 team playoff already killed the regular season / bowl system irreparably. The regular season in the BCS world prior to the 4 team playoff was the best in sports because it had the only celebrated consolation prizes of any sport. Even if you didn't make the title game, going to the Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, Orange, Cotton bowl, (even lesser bowls) was a prestigious accomplishment and kept fans interested late into the season even with no shot at the title.
It is now playoff or busted season. Which means it is actually a pretty shitty regular season for 90% of teams whose seasons are basically over by Week 5. Most of the country is losing interest in college football as a result.
With the old school regular season and bowl system destroyed already, I think it actually makes sense to have a real playoff. An expanded playoff isn't actually changing the value of the regular season, it is simply replacing the value that making a top bowl game used to have.

2003 you finished 13th after winning the bowl game so no
2008 and 2009 you went 8-4. Nope
2014 both State and OM make it
2015 yes
2020 - you must mean 2021. You went 5-5 in 2020
12 team playoff has auto qualifiers due to conference champs but if you’re not a champ to get an at large bid you’d have to be ranked top 12. Only way 4 loss team will get in is by winning a conference. 3 loss teams are marginal

I think you need to take in account that some of these SEC teams had some very close losses that had they won them then more often than not would qualify for a playoff.

It really depends how these teams are ranked in the beginning of the year. I have seen some 9-3 teams stayed unranked and other 9-3 teams finished in the top 15.

No, I'm gatekeeping things that make this sport unique, IMO. If that would have kept us out, keeping it at 2, so be it.

To be fair, the OP is which school SHOULD, not which WILL. Those 4 should, for sure

I realize this, but I'm not one to change my conviction based upon the popularity of the opposing view.

How many of these do you suspect that you would have won?
