Our 8-3 team would've made the CFP even after Shoegate and not winning the SEC. What a joke.

So 2012:

OU, Bama, UGA, LSU, UF, South Carolina and A&M?

I don’t think they’ll ever let it be 7 of the 12 SEC.

Okay well our 9-3 team from 2018 that didn't even win a share of the East and got blown out by Mizzou would've made it. So yeah, a joke.

2018 woulda been:
Bama, Clemson, OU, Ohio State auto bids

ND, UGA, Michigan, UCF, UF, Washington, LSU, PSU

Seems fun.

It's top six conference champs and then six at large bids.

I think Northern Illinois and Boise State replace Oklahoma and South Carolina. Also likely that Clemson goes ahead of someone.

That also would throw off some of the data in the OP, I think.

Just seeing this listed out fricking depresses me. Making the playoffs will no longer be an achievement. It cheapens shite, and now we will have shite teams crowing about making the playoffs.

You have a point.

It absolutely murdered bowls...all of them outside of the designated playoff bowls, no question about that.

I believe the regular season was largely kept intact, at the least in terms of the gravity of a loss. Moving to twelve will undoubtedly change that, and I hate it, however we don't have much choice at this point b/c the playoff train as left the station.

A great regular season requires a balance of every loss having consequences while not so crushing that there is nothing left to play for. The reduced standing of the bowl games knocked that balance out of alignment and the 12 team playoff became a necessary evil to fix it.

A perfect scenario would be a 4 team playoff with a still meaningful bowl system, but that didn't happen.

The 9-3 Bama, Florida, LSU, USC, Ohio St, etc making it will suck. With the big names it will feel like they already had their shot with every resource available to do it. But on the flip side of that, it will be fun watching some really good 10-2 teams like your Utah's, Miss St, Arkansas, etc get to play in a game with implications those teams have not experienced in decades. Not to mention getting to watch a regular season game where something like the egg bowl could have playoff implications.

At one time when bowls were limited they didn't have bowls for 6-5 teams. Hell they had 7-3 teams back playing 10 game schedules and didn't go bowling. You either had a really good year or you stayed home period.

I'm not interested in exhibition games, other Arkansas fans I have talked to don't care, the players are hitting the portal, declaring for the draft, some will skip it, one retired and a few quit the team before the season ended. If they don't give a shite then I don't either.

A healthy Knile Davis would do some damage in the playoffs.

Interesting. I guess I was thinking that because the Bama/LSU game usually determined a ticket to the SEC title game. Those were some good LSU teams that got deflated after.

The playoff will dictate the performance of a lot of teams down the stretch I believe.
This; a lot of those LSU teams mailed it in after losing to Bama. That wouldn't happen if you are still in contention for a playoff spot.

Kinda think the Oklahoma numbers are a bit misleading, too. Those are while they're in the Big 12, and we've seen they haven't fared well in the BCS and playoffs... particularly against SEC teams. Put the IN the SEC, and those losses occur in the regular season, and they don't get in.

Neither will AUbusers while your head coach is a whiny, self-righteous hypocrite creeper.
