How many teams from the SEC would make a 24-team playoff if it was this season?

Same for the Big-10. Hell let’s just start the season at the playoff.

Probably which is absurd.

Also you are going to get teams with no business who played a dog shite schedule in and finished 8-4.

Future OOC scheduling just became pretty irrelevant

64 team Playoff and 10-game regular season (9 conf games + 1 OOC - no FCS) is the way to go.

Winner and runner up only play 16 games. No Conf Championship games.

Hell, even add an NIT version for the next 64 to make everyone happy

The ONE good thing to come out of this is Sankey by going along with this was able to extract from the big 10 they also must move to a 9 game conference schedule and all p4 conference teams must play against at least 10 p4 teams a year. This means every team must schedule at least one OOC p4 team every year so you won’t be able to do what 3/4 of the big 10 does anymore especially Cig and schedule the 4 worst schools you can find OOC.

And not everyone can schedule a Rutgers, or a Maryland, some teams are going to actually have to schedule good quality teams OOC.

Did you need to expand the playoffs to the universally hated 24 teams to get this to happen? No and Sankey sucks and is a loser coward bitch subservient to ESPN. But, I still think it is a good thing.

Everything else about this fricking sucks arse

They just rebranded bowl games nobody was watching or cared about into “playoff games” and suddenly you guys are ALL IN and think this is going to be EPIC where some Cinderella is going to go on a run and take it to the big guys! (Will never happen. I’ll be shocked if one ever makes it past the second round, and most years none will make it out of the 1st)

You can tell who is a casual watcher or who has a casual understanding of the game by their opinion on this. It is the ultimate litmus test

The only realistic path for Texas A&M, Auburn, Florida, and LSU to reach the playoffs is through expansion, so I’m sure their fan bases are absolutely thrilled about the prospect.

With 8 games in first and second rounds how will networks schedule so none overlap? You also have NFL going on.

Disney was able to buy the rights to all the games. This is one of the main reasons they commanded their puppet Sankey to capitulate.

In their original contract if the playoff expanded beyond 14 teams the remaining games not already owned by Disney would be opened up to bid on the market, meaning basically Fox who is the big10s media partner would be able to buy the rights to air them. This was the initial motivation behind the big10 pushing for 24 teams.

Sankey was able to extract from the big 10 a few things among them Disneys evil arse be allowed to buy the rights to all the playoff games under the new format.

So the answer to your question is they will air on ABC, ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN+, they will put it on as many espns as they need

When they discontinue the SEC championship game I wonder how happy the city of Atlanta is going to be about that week and weekend of lost revenue? They stand to lose a shite load of money to their local economy.

Appreciate the info. That didn’t answer my question. How will they avoid having games on at same time? If its playoffs you don’t want games at same time.

I would imagine they will be not very thrilled.

You can also tell the people in charge are all fricking idiots and money people who don’t have the slightest understanding of what they are even fricking around with by how they structured this.

Conference champions still get auto bids and the rest is 19 at large bids with one G6 for some reason still promised a spot even if they can’t crack the top 25.

Answer me this; how do you determine a conference champion when you are killing the conference championship games in unbalanced conferences that don’t all play each other every year?

And yet they will most likely especially in the first round. There is really no way around it and like I said in an earlier post; these early round games a lot of them are just a rebranding of bowl games nobody was watching or cared about before they became “playoff games.”

The same thing is going to happen here and they know it so I would hazard a guess they likely don’t care that much

I truly hope you are right and if we are looking glass half full lets hope this is the case. I still think the Indianas of the world will just choose a terrible program as their P4 but I hope I'm wrong.

The faster they go to a quadrant system like basketball the better but they never will.

Yep pretty much.

Average sec and big teams and below average big 12 and Acc teams will get in now.

In a 24 team playoff based on current sec standings if happened this year I would see 8-9 sec teams in. That's just silly

Two glaring issues with this: the bowl games you say no one cares about ppl used to care about. The peach cotton and cap 1 bowl games were all fantastic, featured top end sec vs top end big 10 big 12 and acc we quit caring when players opted out. The second point is look at the first two rounds of ncaa tourney, it’s awesome watching 10 and 12 seeds make noise and clip giants sure they aren’t winning the whole thing but it’s fun watching the upset. Hell some of those Peterson Boise st, Gary Patterson tcu, Petrino(arky and Louis) Snyder kstate, Beamer vt and the leach Texas tech teams would’ve given contenders a fit and pretenders the boot.
