re: How many SEC schools force visiting bands to sit in the upper deck?

Home teams (Miami) give the visiting team (Florida) a certain amount of tickets, it's up to the visiting team (Florida) to distribute their tickets to their fans. So unless Miami just didn't give enough lower level tickets to Florida to fit the band (unlikely), the Florida administration likely is making the band sit in the upper deck while giving better tickets to the big money fans.

Is this game going to sell out?

I believe they have already said it did

Stub hub says 600 tickets are left. I guess Miami will have a filled stadium for once.

It makes sense, really. It's well-known that loud noises close by scare most ACC teams.

but they are also forcing us to purchase their entire season ticket package as the only way to get a ticket from them for the game this weekend.
On their website, it appears that they had single game tickets for this game as well as 3-game packages but the Florida game is all sold out of both of those. Your fellow Gator fans gobbled them all up and you missed the boat. Hope you find some.

I never thought the host school got to tell the visiting school where its band had to sit. I thought they just allocated a certain number of tickets to the visiting school, and it was up to the visiting school to distribute those as it wished. Most schools choose to seat their band close to the field and in the middle of the main section of their tickets, but I guess they could put them wherever they want.

Not sure what you mean here. The band have to buy season tickets to go to the game? That can't be right, unless UF has really shitty lawyers who negotiated the contract for the game. Visiting schools get X,000 tickets for their game and don't have to buy any others.
Now, if you are talking about UF fans who couldn't get tickets from UF out of its allotment and are trying to buy them directly from UM, then oh yes, I don't doubt that a bit. Tulane used to do the same thing when we played them in New Orleans.

Don't buy them. Tickets will be going for $20 outside the stadium.
Wouldn't that be funny if it were the band trying to get tickets? Walk up to a scalper and say "hey, you got 254 together?".

I don't think our band can fit in the lower level. Over 90% of the tickets Miami gave UF are in the upper deck.
And I had to pay $85 for a student ticket. $85 seems kinda steep for Miami to charge opposing students

Every school charges regular ticket price to visiting students.

Who knows. It could be that Miami didn't give Florida enough lower bowl tickets to accommodate a full sized band (bet Miami doesn't get many visitors that want to bring a band, other than FSU, but it would be interesting for someone to find out where the FSU band sits when they visit Miami). It could be that UF wanted the lower bowl tickets to go to donors. It could be that the stadium logistics make the upper deck at Miami as convenient for the band as the lower deck (if the band would have to go all the way up to the concourse in order to get down to field level, as is the case at Jerryworld, upper deck might actually be no less of a hassle). It could be that Miami is just trying to stick it to Florida.
Current SEC rules require visiting teams to provide 1500 seats in the lower bowl to visitors. Usually, the visitors will be able to accommodate their band using this allotment. The rules might be revised some--A&M has held some tickets back in its Kyle Field reseating for 2015 because the SEC rules on visitor tickets are being reconsidered.

No other SEC school charged us that much.....not even LSU (and they are pretty cheap
)
I think LSU is charging UF students $70 or maybe $75 this year

This. The cheapest face value for this game is $79 per ticketmaster. Clear money grab for UM as their next highest face value game is VTech at $39.

Miami will make more from UF alumni this game then all of their other games combined this year.
Gotta suck the power teet.

They can just move down to the empty seats in the lower sections at any time. What else would you expect from scUM? By the start of the 4th quarter only the UF sections will have anyone in them, the scUM fans will be outside vandalizing visitors cars.

I guess since they have so many fans and high paying season ticket holders, they're kinda forced to sit up there.
For some reason, Miss State's band sat in the upper deck once. I don't know if we told them to or not, but they were the only ones who did. I personally think it's because they wanted to bitch about something
I was at that game. Thought it was really strange.
I think MSU actually chose that, and elected to sell their allotment in the lower bowl.

Yes. And we don't even let Auburn bring their band.
