I mean, for states with only one big school (La, Tennessee, Akry, Ky) I can see the average blue collar guy/girl pulling for one of those schools. For States where there's two big schools (Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, SC, Texas), I can see bandwagon fans picking the team that's had the most recent success.

On that note, other than Florida, how many SEC teams have 5 P4 schools in-state to recruit against?

Some of ya'll * coughLSUcough * don't realize how good you have it.

It would actually explain more if most of them had been educated at LSU.

From google (March 2024 article) here is the breakdown of the SEC teams listed in the article (% of Fans That Attended The School They Root For):

Vanderbilt = 93%
TAMU = 82%
Miss St = 69%
S.Carolina = 64%
Mizzou = 57%
Ole Miss = 55%
Kentucky = 53%
Arkansas = 44%
Auburn = 36%
Florida = 29%
LSU = 18%
OU = 15%
Tennessee = 14%
UGA = 13%
Bama = 12%
Texas = 3%

Interesting tidbit: Notre Dame dead last at 0.01%

How many students went to Ole Miss because of the incredibly low academic entry standards and almost non-existent rejection rate? Ole Miss is where people go to school when they can’t get into their school of choice.

Present

As for Ole Miss.. the present state of your football program is of your own making, no empathy from this Tiger in North Texas....we did same to ourselves when hiring BK....Time for you all to 'man up' and quit blaming others

That's another thing they don't tell you about LSU, there's LSU (whatever town) all over the state. LSU Shreveport is actually approaching the size of La Tech. The tension has always been did you go to Baton Rouge vs the It says LSU on my degree people if you want the in state low down.

It's another way LSU is EVERYONE in this state's team. Very few fans of other teams that don't also support LSU.
