Recruited to LSU for athletics. I knew nothing about the school but chose it because on my trip the tailgating and food was awesome, we shamelessly pumped miss state for like 50 points, and Saturday night after the game was like the Wild West. I knew instantly I was home.

That's awesome

Uncle when he got out of the Army worked at UA in the 70s to the late 80's until he retired. Took me to my first game in 78 and many more after that. Been a fan since. Only reason I have ever been in the state except for a week at space camp when I was younger.

I did not and would never. I'm just busy preparing to move, finalizing some things with my Mother's estate, and shifting careers which I think we've already talked about. Moving to a farm in the middle of nowhere and once I get there I'll have the mental energy to do more than shitpost in the Rant.

My condolences, if I'm reading that accurately. Best of luck, brotherman. Hit me up for farming tips.

I kind of see where you’re coming from. But It throttles that line of “if you didn’t go to school there, why do you love them so much?” Type of people.

These types are the worst. They sort of give me the vibe that they look down on others who didn’t attend the school.

Same here. Once I got out of the military I understood that paying instate tuition was the smart thing to do.

I was only in Louisiana from ‘81-‘93, but that was 6th grade through LSU, so that probably wasn’t what the OP was going after since I’m an alum.

I was born right outside of Lexington, and my late father, who died too soon, was a UK alum.

Graduated from State, and have been a proud Bulldog fan ever since.

I'm from a small town in northeast Texas. I went to Alabama for my undergrad. I still live in Tuscaloosa.

Born and raised in Southeast Texas. Dad was born in Louisiana and passed on being a tiger fan to me.

Originally from St. Louis, MO and now reside in Virginia.

I grew up following Mizzou football on KMOX Radio.

Agreed. As Charlie Spoonhour used to say: "Your town, your team".

Mizzou's not only the homestate team, but STL's de facto pro football team.

It's a civic duty to root for them.

It's cheesy to say but I'm not a fan, I'm a Gamecock. I can't shed that allegiance, it's part of who I am.

Not cheesy at all, imo. I was born a Gamecock. I cannot even fathom being anything else. It's seriously as if my brain and soul and gag reflex rejects even the suggestion of being anything other than a Gamecock.

I'd (literally) divorce a fool before I changed my allegiance.

ETA: To specifically address the question posed by the OP, I am from SC, however.

Hoosier by birth.
Dad went to UK and was from the state. Lead to me watching UK football/basketball games, which made me a fan, and later, a student

Yea true. Most of the time, the ones who never attended school there are just as big of fans and give more of their time & money to said school. It’s weird how that works.

Very true. I have an accounting degree from University of Miss but starting in the first grade some 30 years ago I started liking State so I could spar with my grandfather who was an Ole Miss homer. We bet a many a coca-cola on those games before he passed 10 years ago. Now I could never feel like anything but a bulldog and I promise you I feel the gut wrenching losses as strongly as any State grad.

And let's be honest anyone who chooses to be state fan with no real ties deserves a HARUMPH!!

Can’t blame you there, considering you’re a gamecock fan. Do what you gotta do to troll.
