How many of y’all are not from the state in which your team resides?

What’s your story on how you came to be a fan of your respective SEC team?

Why’d you put quotes around the word fan?

Got orders to North West Arkansas for 3 years to become one of them and recruit the finest young men and women into the most beloved branch of military that the United States loves.

All there is there is outdoors and football. Pretty simple, but GLORIOUS! Enjoyed my time there.

Because fan to me has a bad connotation. It seems more fleeting and choice driven.

The difference being that you can be a Cowboys fan for 10 years and then become a Dolphins fan. You can completely shed that Cowboys fanhood and adopt a Dolphins one that is just as legitimate as your first one...it's a choice.

It's cheesy to say but I'm not a fan, I'm a Gamecock. I can't shed that allegiance, it's part of who I am.

From California -- Mom relocated to TN and remarried a die hard UT fan 23 years ago. Pops back in Cali doesn't watch football/sports so I would watch UT with my step dad over the years. They would eventually become my team.

I was born in Homewood (a suburb of Birmingham) and raised in a small city called Oxford, Alabama.

I am from Ripley, AL, and the product of generations of inbreeding. War Eagle.

I was always told that Auburn is in West Georgia so I think I qualify.

Born in and lived in the Jackson, MS suburbs my first 9 years to a MS St family and moved to Birmingham with my dads job transfer. As much as I wanted to go to State like my old man he couldn’t justify out of state tuition. My close friends from school were going to Bama so they helped the decision. Bama will always be #1 in my heart and my #1 bill to pay every month but I still have a soft sport for the bulldogs. If anything it gives me a decent college baseball team to pull for.

I kind of see where you’re coming from. But It throttles that line of “if you didn’t go to school there, why do you love them so much?” Type of people.

These types are the worst. They sort of give me the vibe that they look down on others who didn’t attend the school.

I can understand why you'd get that vibe, it's kind of a natural outgrowth of the line of thinking, but I don't really think that way. Similar allegiance can be built through other connections to the school. I honestly don't look down on sidewalkers, I only disparage them when I think it will get a rise out of them.

Born and raised in Metairie, LA. Went to high school in River Ridge, then to LSU, then USAF. Moved to Mississippi and lived there 19 years. The Walmart Bama faction invaded, so I fled to South TX and have lived there 2 years. I ain't leaving until i finish educating ALL these skinny arse redfish.

Yea true. Most of the time, the ones who never attended school there are just as big of fans and give more of their time & money to said school. It’s weird how that works.

It just means more - to them.

I think a super fan is most of us on here. Most of the frequent posters is how I feel are super fans. Regardless if you went to school there, most of us are in love with something that makes us feel the need to spend time here. I mean most of us know all the weird shite about the other schools and our own to trigger other fans.

I dunno man, I post here almost entirely for the banter. The wonky superfan stuff doesn't interest me.

I am Paul William Bryant Ammer and I was named after one of the greatest men who ever walked the planet. My father had the privilege of meeting Coach Bryant while he was in the States finishing his education and Coach Bryant's manner and principles influenced him throughout his life.

Even though I grew up in London my mother's people were the Birmingham area. There was never any doubt I would grow up to become one of the staunchest Alabama football supporters there is.

I only take it seriously for 3.5 hours at a time on a few Saturdays in the Fall. Otherwise, it's just an excuse for conversation IRL or the internet.

Also, baw, you are dearly missed.

Recruited to LSU for athletics. I knew nothing about the school but chose it because on my trip the tailgating and food was awesome, we shamelessly pumped miss state for like 50 points, and Saturday night after the game was like the Wild West. I knew instantly I was home.

I miss you and the crew as well. I've meant to reengage but certain things IRL are occupying that part of my mind at the moment. We will be in touch once I get things sorted.
