They have won these since I have been alive, so I claim 7.

If Auburn claims 2004, then TCU has rightful claim to 2010.

41 is bogus. The rest have some legitimacy.Bama and AU had the same fate in 83 and 77,they were the highest ranked team to win their bowl game.Bama was awarded the 77 title by some but doesn't claim it.Fans who are envious or in some way emotionally invested in how many NCs Bama claims use 41 to try to undermine all the others.

Why is this year worthy of being claimed?

Lost to Ole Miss and Vanderbilt that season, and finished ranked 20th (behind 4 other SEC teams). This was also the last season a National Championship was claimed without winning the AP or Coaches poll. Houlgate was the only one to pick Alabama as a National Champion. How is that worthy?

According to the NCAA, Alabama has 13 National Championships

Good enough for me tbh.

not exactly the same, but sure why not. Auburn 2004 is still more deserving than a few Bama claims, so not sure why an Alabama fan would have anything to say about the validity of a national title claim.

It's not.

Arkansas claims 1964 and they only won the FWAA. Tennessee claims 1967 and they didn't even win that.

I misread the question, '41 is the one I don't really care about. I claim the other 14 that the UofA claims.

Doesn't Kentucky claim 1950?

Fair enough, sorry for the confusion.

Auburn has no claim on 2004. They did not win the AP or coaches. Ditto TCU for 2010.

It's also worth mentioning that according to your link, everything before 1936 was awarded retroactively.

How is it not exactly the same?

2004: Auburn left out of BCSNC game as 1 of 3 undefeated teams
2010: TCU left out of BCSNC game as 1 of 3 undefeated teams

Bama or any other team in the country has not officially claimed a Title since'70 without AP or UPI. Maybe more years than that, can't remember

I don't know the first Bama fan who thinks 1941 is legit but when the school researched, they included this one.

It's already been discussed ad nauseum and JJ is no different if he decides to do the same thing.

I guess guys like you will lose your argument if and when Auburn does.

57 Auburn and 74 Oklahoma were extremely fortunate in getting the AP. Both were on bowl bans.

14 is a fair claim. 1942 is the only truly ridiculous one Alabama claims.

Most teams that win the Title are fortunate in one way or the other that year.
