Given the ever changing landscape of college football, how many more years does the SEC last? I have a feeling with the pay for play model coming soon, a new division of football will emerge, and all the current conferences will disolve for football only.

I think, at some point, the NFL will have to take some leadership and it will become some sort of developmental league.

If each franchise adopts one college as their minor league farm team, which SEC teams get left out?

Judging by the amount of busts they've had lately, probably Bama

This is the draft order, returning traded picks to the original owners. Also considering regional ties, which teams would draft which schools?

I think the first pick is obvious so I will fill it in.

1. Houston (2-14) - Texas Longhorns
2. Washington (3-13)
3. Jacksonville (4-12)
4. Cleveland (4-12)
5. Oakland (4-12)
6. Atlanta (4-12)
7. Tampa Bay (4-12)
8. Minnesota (5-10-1)
9. Buffalo (6-10)
10. Detroit (7-9)
11. Tennessee (7-9)
12. New York Giants (7-9)
13. St. Louis (7-9)
14. Chicago (8-8)
15. Pittsburgh (8-8)
16. Dallas (8-8)
17. Baltimore (8-8)
18. New York Jets (8-8)
19. Miami (8-8)
20. Arizona (10-6)
21. Green Bay (8-7-1)
22. Philadelphia (10-6)
23. Kansas City (11-5)
24. Cincinnati (11-5)
25. San Diego (9-7)
26. Indianapolis (11-5)
27. New Orleans (11-5)
28. Carolina (12-4)
29. New England (12-4)
30. San Francisco (12-4)
31. Denver (13-3)
32. Seattle (13-3)

Atlanta would probably take UGA in this hypothetical. Logistics make sense, UGA produces pros as well as anyone, and it would popular with the fans.

Gotta think Jax would take UF for similar reasons

Are you kidding me? State run schools are not going to affiliate with an NFL team. This thread is terrible.

And to answer your question about how long the SEC lasts, I would counter with;

How long until Alabama

It would not make sense to do it by this years draft order, but it was more fun that way.

It is all hypothetical and for fun, but don't kid yourself if you think football as a whole will not drastically change over time if player safety does not change.

Parents are already stopping their kids from playing tackle football, and you will probably see more 7on7 at younger ages.

The NFL already had a billion dollar lawsuit over concussions, wait until that lawsuit comes to the college level. Large universities may be able to withstand it, but what if high schools start to get sued?

If high schools stop playing football for fear of getting sued and financial reasons, where do your players even come from?

Ultimately, if the NFL wants to survive, they are going to have to play some role in the development of their players.

Well, in a more realistic hypothetical it wouldn't be based off this years draft order, and New Orleans would clearly use LSU, but what is the fun in that.

At least I drafted LSU.

Why do it by draft order?

To be financially viable ownership will have to share regions

Do you really think Alabama fans will accept ownership if the owner is in NY / MA / PA type states?

You absolutely would not do it by draft order, just made it much more fun to devalue some schools.
