We will need to decide as a rant, how we are going to abbreviate them.

They came to our house 100 years late. Tennessee is a charter member of the SEC so we get to keep UT. It'd be a different story if Tennessee went to the Big12.

Nevermind the fact they are joining a conference 100 years late that was literally founded in Knoxville, TN.

I'm honestly unconcerned about Tennessee in just about every facet imaginable

But in reality, I think most of us don't care. Call us UT, call us Texas.. we're just glad to be in this conference.

Goddamn right you are.

AND WE WERE RIGHT 10 YEARS AGO!!! SAY IT!!!

In Aggieland, texas has always been “t.u.” and Tennessee “UT”, so there will be absolutely no adjustment needed from our standpoint.

I don't really think any coping will be necessary. Very few alumni refer to themselves as "UT" graduates or fans, and most of us just refer to the school as "Texas".

Plus, seeing as Tennessee was the first "UT" in the conference, it's only fair they keep the moniker. We'll be happy with "Texas"

In my experience in dealing with you Horns... Just saying "Texas" isn't good enough. You have to refer to it as "THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS".

For instance if you asked a Texas Ex if they went to "Texas"... They will respond indignantly by saying "yes, I went to the University of Texas".

That aside, with both Tennessee and Texas being orange UT's and considering the fact that if it weren't for Tennesseans their likely wouldn't even be a Texas.

I am looking forward to the development of that rivalry. I remember being in the fifth grade and watching those two teams play in the Cotton Bowl. Texas' first year in the wishbone and Tennessee was at a pretty high point in their program history.

They’ve lost their soul. Austin doesn’t count as Texas anymore. They don’t even deserve the right to refer to themselves as Texans

So dumb. Jesus.

You’re right. A&M made the right call moving to the SEC. Feel better?
I never hated A&M for that. I hated that y’all actually did well and have a good trajectory right now. I hope we can replicate it. When I say hate, don’t misunderstand me. it’s all In fun to me. It’s a fun rivalry to me and I’m glad to see TX talent represent any and everywhere.

Texas-TU
Tennessee-UT

Pretty easy fix. But Tennessee was a college and started playing football well before Texas. Tennessee started in 1891 while Texas started playing football 1893. Tennessee was a college in 1794, while Texas started college 1883. And oh don’t forget if it wasn’t for The Volunteers from Tennessee then Texas would be Mexico. Texas actually needs to thank Tennessee for coming to rescue them from Mexico.

I don't have this experience with the people I graduated with. At all.

The only time we refer to it as "UT" is if saying the words "Texas" might confuse someone, as there are tons of schools in the state and they think we're talking the geographic location of where we went to school.

Y'all keep UT. It's a big deal to y'all, which is fine, because I understand Tennessee's tradition behind it. Texas just doesn't have much tradition behind the UT name, and we're fine with that too.

Y'all are extraordinarily hung up on this, which I will never understand.

It's like you're bragging about guys that couldn't wait to get the hell out of Tennessee fast enough that they'd rather go die fighting for Texas than stay another minute longer in Tennessee. Odd flex, but you do you.

See, here's the thing. They were VOLUNTEERING to fight (because the Texans couldn't handle themselves). Volunteer State. It's kinda what they were known for. They didn't want to leave, they were doing a duty.

LoserSU fans do the same thing with Max Johnson. Very odd.

It's even weirder that you and I agree on something.

When A&M just washes Texas next year we're going to see the full power of Aggie.
