We’ve been attacked for 30 years. We’ve managed to slowly preserve a few of our traditions but the writing is on the wall.

The song Dixie is not the issue. It was the jackass students saying "the south will rise again" that was the problem

Remind me where the last 12 or so titles have gone? Deep South. It rose.

Eh, traditions aren’t everything. Ole Miss should have let go and moved forward long ago.
Mississippi State doesnt have a lot of real traditions outside of the cowbells, but it’s the smaller, quirky things that make your university feel like home. For us it’s things like the cheese, left field lounge, our humble watering holes, etc.
Ole Miss will always have things like that - even with out the dated traditions. That’s what make public universities great.

Ole Miss, Miss State, Barn, LSU, Ark, most of the SEC will always be better than those massive, culture-less, soul-less, fun void mega schools like UCF and Alabama.

I hate Ole Miss as do all MSU fans because they are a state rival. Having said that, I think it’s stupid they had to give up their mascot. I mean c’mom, black bears? Land sharks?

I confess to making fun of them over all this crap but not one person on this board is going to refer to them as the “black bears” or “ land sharks” (except PlateJohnsonIII” ) because he is politically correct.

What happened over a 100 years ago means as much to me as the clowns trying to tell FSU that their indian name hurts native americans, despite the fact that tribe embraces it and sees it as an honor.

Atalanta Braves are in their sites as are any name that the political correct people are going after.

As a true MSU fan,I love the rivalry and to me they’ll always be the Rebels.

I love animals, especially dogs because they are loyal and mans best friend. I suppose one day Peta will have their way and UGA and MSU will become “The Reds” or “ Maroons” and then LSU will be called “The purple and Golders”

Dixie's land was written by Daniel Decatur Emmett in 1859 from Ohio. He wrote it after having fond memories of visiting the south.

It was Abe Lincoln's favorite song and he played it at Lee's surrender.

Somehow it became a racist song and yet none of the lyrics suggest anything racial.

They need to get rid of "Ole Miss" and "Rebels," so insensitive in this day and age

Did you seriously just claim that the 4 year experience in Starkville, MS is superior to Tuscaloosa & Orlando? Dude come on get real. Also, why’d you use UCF and Alabama? UCF is a massive commuter school and UA is a traditional school with numerous traditions. The two are NOTHING alike.

We must get rid of the history created by the colonizers.

America was build by slaves while every one sipped lemonade and watched them work.

In the age of outrage, I'm certain the terms "Ole Miss" and "Rebels" aren't going to last. I'd almost bet the University starts to officially distance themselves from use of Ole Miss and focused on Mississippi instead.

I'm gonna raise a fuss, I'm gonna raise a holler
About a-workin' all summer just to try to earn a dollar
Every time I call my baby, try to get a date
My boss says, "no dice son, you gotta work late"
Sometimes I wonder what I'm a-gonna do
But there ain't no cure for the summertime blues.

Oxford got all the rioting out of its system in 1962 when the White population of the town rioted so hard against the outrage of Black people being allowed to go to school with them that 300 people were injured, a journalist was murdered, and military police had to called in to stop the White rioters from setting more cars on fire and destroying property.
