Players play as a team? Teams full of great players so that one doesn’t generally have to do more ?

This is what I thought originally but I think the other Alabama poster made a good point about Alabama not usually having a "great" quarterback or edge rusher.

I think your point can be countered, having a team full of great players can elevate a great talent to be even better like in the case of Joe Burrow.

Sometimes he did. Once his WRs went out, he didn't really elevate the other guys. Jameson and Metchie elevated Bryce more than the other way around IMO.

How do you "elevate" WRs beyond throwing it where they can/should catch it? He can't make the WRs catch the ball.

Next year will definitely be the most likely

Highest he's had

2011 - #3 Marcell Dareus
2012 - #3 Trent Richardson
2019 - #3 Quinnen Williams

Unless another QB goes ham this year or Young gets hurt someone will make him #1 next year and if he takes a step back Will Anderson is right there as well.

I still don’t understand why Mac Jones wasn’t in that conversation when he declared based on stats and accomplishments, but it’s water under the bridge at this point.

I just don’t see how anyone passes on Will Anderson at #1. Even if you need a QB.

Here are some notable edge players in previous years and their college statistics.

Chase Young - 30.5 sacks, 40.5 TFL, 8 PD, 9FF

Joey Bosa - 26 sacks, 51 TFL, 6 PD, 5 FF

Nick Bosa - 17.5 sacks, 29 TFL, 2 PD, 2FF

Von Miller (4 seasons) - 33 sacks, 50.5 TFL, 5 PD, 7 FF

Will Anderson - 24.5 sacks, 41.5 TFL, 3 PD, 1 FF

And he’s only played 2 seasons. He will easily surpass all of these players in the 2 most important categories for edge rushers and it won’t even be close.

This doesn’t even count his tackles either. He has 153 total tackles in 2 seasons. This is 2nd behind Von and in half the seasons.

Yep. This was the weakest draft group I’ve ever seen

The weakest I recall was the year Johnny Manziel got drafted in the first round.

Must've been a weak bunch if that loser got drafted so high...

Don't sue me daniel.

2023 may have 4 or 5 QB's go in the top 10.

I still think Will Anderson will be a top 2-3 pick (if not #1 overall) if he can even be reasonably close to his production from last year this upcoming season and remains healthy. Depending on the needs of the teams with those picks, of course.

He's certainly worth it, but after this years weak QB class, teams will reach for a QB.

And he's played better competition than all of them.

Barring something crazy, Will Anderson will likely be it next year unless the team that drafted first overall is in need of a QB and there is a lights out prospect, maybe Stoud from OSU?

That's wild when you look at the amount of first round guys he's produced throughout his career.

True but first picks are usually "skill" guys. Sabans best players are interior lineman and doesn't get you drafted number one. Saban never has that edge pass rusher a la Cornelius Bennett or Derrick Thomas. He focuses on the interior and getting the pass rush from inside.
Cornelius and Derrick were great pass rushers but lacked the physicality to stop the run but the NFL loved their outside speed.
