Lol “plenty of pressure” you idiots tried that old 3-8 scheme on us and it didn’t work because your DL isn’t as good as Auburn’s. The first TD Joe had 7 seconds to throw the ball. He shredded y’all. You just need to take this L and just realize LSU is your daddy

Pass-heavy offense
Empty protection
Often blitzed out of desperation

Yea ... you're going to get some pressure with that kind of scheme. The offensive line did remarkably well considering what they were asked to do, and Burrow obviously did a great job navigating through pressure.

Try to stay on topic, which is OL.

You've been provided with direct quotes about why LSU won it. Gnashing your teeth over it doesn't really change anything.

Quotes that ignore stats aren’t worth much.

Stats like QB pressures are dependent on the offensive scheme. More passes, more pressures. Fewer guys blocking, more pressures. This is the part you haven't accounted for. Which is to say, you're clever enough to throw some stats around, but not smart enough to dig deeper to understand what factors gave rise to those stats in the first place.

Stats that ignore context are worth even less.

Well said. Much more concise.

It’s pretty clear the LSU didn’t have the best OL last year

Is it?

Please, elaborate.

The same defense that got plenty of pressure on your qb and held your rb in check?

Good enough to win the trophy for being the best offensive line in football.

Oh, and good enough to have LSU as the first sec team ever to go 15-0.

The stats aren’t doing that, so not in this instance.

I agree. They did improve over 2018 and the scheme helped.....Burrow’s deceptive athleticism did help their production.

Mostly dependent upon blocking ability.

More guys going downfield = less guys rushing the passer.

Teams simply couldn’t afford to send more than 4-5 pass rushers due to your scheme.

Yes, they are. See the quotes provided, again.

I'll also reiterate that gnashing your teeth over it doesn't really change anything.

I don’t know how to quantify the best when it comes to O-line play, but I’d say they were among the best. I think it helped a great deal when defenses were rushing three in hopes of trying to stop our receivers though, but that was as we can see not a very good srategy to handle that offense, as it gave Joe plenty of time to pick them apart.

I'm just going to throw in all the stats I can find from SECstatcat

Of Passers W/ At Least 140 Attempts

Joe Burrow SEC Ranks
- Sack Rate (Sacks/Dropbacks) - 10th out of 16
- Average Time to Throw - 3rd out of 16
- Average # of Blockers (Most to Least) - 16th out of 16

Of Rushers W/ At Least 125 Attempts

CEH SEC Ranks
- Rush Yards Before Contact : 3rd out of 13
- Negative Rush % of Total Rushes : 5th out of 13

The passing stat tells me that LSU went 5 OL blocking without any help a LOT and that Joe was given a pretty solid pocket all things considered. The sack rate seems to say that Joe waited until the last minute a lot to find the perfect throw, and that he ran quite a bit and probably got drug down right at the LOS.

The running numbers tell me that LSU had a solid run line.
