The OP clearly asks: Does he have the best deep ball in CFB history?
And the answer is no. I haven’t seen him throw a single deep ball in a remotely tight window. I’ve seen him throw some really nice intermediate passes but his deep balls only happen when a receiver is like 5+ yards clear. Margin for error is a big deal when talking about quality deep balls

dumbfrick. Joe's best statistical games came against the top teams in the nation. It didn't matter who he played. Quit with the stat padding argument, you look like a fool
Mac will never be remembered in lore compared to the likes of Tebow, Cam, Burrow, etc..Just accept it already.
This is your QB

One of the reasons I find it funny that LSU won the best OL award last season. Although don’t get me wrong they were pretty damn good.
Lots of good discussion between good run blocking OLs and good pass blocking OLs with the inability at any level to be really good at both.
I think 2019 LSU was an elite RB OL that had elite WRs and a playmaker QB to make their pass blocking deficiencies more than manageable. It was still a stout group.
Bama 2020 has elite pass blocking. Thankfully they have an elite back and good playcalling to create run and short passing game (extensions of the run game) to overcome good not great run blocking and an immobile QB.

Re-watch each pass over 30 and come back. He drops dimes all over the field.

The ability to “drop dimes” when all you have to do is throw it high and in the direction of your WR and they run and get it isn’t that impressive.
Mac has a great deep ball. I wouldn’t call it anywhere near the best of all time

Disagree. They got better as the season progressed but CEH was so damn good. He got blown up so many times and still usually had a positive gain

That's good for 4 million a year, a clipboard, and no pressure for at least 10 years in the league. Not bad.

Mac is pretty good on deep balls but he also can throw guys open by putting the ball in tight windows and putting the ball up before guys become open. When the WR comes out of his break usually Mac has the ball on the way. These are thrown the NFL loves to see.

UGA was still at full strength when he lit them up this year.

UGA wasn’t that great of a defense this year. There weren’t any good defenses in the SEC this year

I put too much credence on his game against Auburn
He’s been basically mistake free the whole year

quote:I'm speaking for a lot of throws under 30 here, as well, but he is not afraid to throw into tight coverage and still has great ball placement. Most of his head scratches are shorter range and intermediate routes, which seem like Qb or Wr confusion. But, when he climbs the pocket and loads up, it is usually a positive result.
when all you have to do is throw it high and in the direction of your WR
The Billingsley TD pass in the Iron Bowl was beautiful. ~25 yds in air and right over the AU DB shoulder into his TE's hands in stride for 5 YAC and a TD.
I never said it was the best deep ball. I just relayed the stat and asked the question. But, don't act like the vast majority of his passes are to wide open WRs based of scheme and route running. He knows the offense and anticipates throws and delivers as accurately as any Bama QB I've ever seen.

He’s a really good QB. I’m not saying at all he is incapable of making throws into tight windows.
The facts though are that he has played 0 good defenses and on a large majority of snaps I have seen this year his receivers have been open by extremely large margins
