I wouldn’t be so quick to concede this one. Crazy shite happens in the RRS and one team looking better on paper doesn’t seem to really matter when OU and Texas play one another.

Sooners will win their non conference games and half of their SEC games so looks like 8-4.

Yea Tulane isn’t going to be as good. I believe Okkys have a winning season.

I don't think anyone in the SEC underestimates Oklahoma and I think any SEC game is winnable, but the odds of that are slim just as it is with ALL SEC teams. 7-5 floor. 9-3 the ceiling. I think we're all looking forward to y'all coming to Death Valley to end the season. It should be an exciting game.

Friends with several Sooners and they all seem cautiously optomistic. Main concern is the O-line and how quickly they gel. Theyre excited about their Defense, especially the secondary, and their wideouts.
They think 9-3 (possiby 10-2) if you can call that "cautiously" optomistic.
I dont know how theyll do against the other teams, but I am worried my Vols may be running into a buzzsaw in Norman.
While I do think our D-line/front 7 can pose significant issues for that young O-line, I think being in Norman for their first SEC game will be a HUGE advantage for the Sooners. If our young QB gets rattled, it may get out of hand quick.

7-5 to 9-3 with a bit of luck

Sometimes the SEC has down years compared to expectations, but tempering them is smart regardless. You can have your best team in years coming into a season and still end up 8-4 or worse. I can see the Sooners winning nine games if they do well.

This is probably the most evenhanded post on the thread.
Obviously most SEC fans are picking OU to get beat by most of the SEC teams given they drew all the good ones sans Georgia.
Texas got the lucky draw here. All the lower end SEC teams and Georgia at home.
OU may have a tough time of it... and I expect Texas to roll through their SEC schedule. If OU had gotten Texas' schedule I would have expected OU to win nine or ten games...

This pretty much sums it up.
IOL should be better than last year. We're talented but inexperienced at OT.
LT has 4 starts to his career and RT has no starts. Also depth on the OL is an issue if anybody goes down.
WR room should be one of the best in the nation, if not the best. RB room is finally loaded again.
Defense should be rounding into form as a Venables defense. Their primary issue was a lack of NFL talent in the front 7 and overall. Next season should be the first season under Venables where he has NFL guys at all three levels of the defense here. Secondary has a glut of talent.
They won't, but this team should be capable of beating everybody on their schedule.

I think UTk is a loss and you’ll pull out a win @Auburn. Otherwise I’d agree with most of it. LSU may be a toss up but we’ll know pretty quickly how good Nuss actually is. If he makes 1/3rd of the turnaround Jayden did we’re in good hands.
Most of us are safe with Bama as long as DeBoer is there, but Ole Miss is going to be tough this year, Texas is a huge rivalry game so might give us a surprise.

Missouri was in the sec championship in their first year, if I recall correctly. There’s not a lot of familiarity between OU and the rest of the SEC teams outside of Texas. Wouldn’t be surprised to see an 8-4 or 9-3 season.
2nd and 3rd years. First year was a humbling experience to say the least. Would have been better if Sheldon Richardson didn’t run his mouth first but it was still fun and exciting. OU just needs to beat TX again.

I suppose so, but I just don’t think he’s good enough. As you well know Oklahoma’s a big ole job; got to find a great recruiter and ball coach.
Is this a troll? BV has recruited top 10 classes each of his 3 recruiting cycles. And his first cycle was sabotaged by LR taking all his offense to Uscw. And BV still pulled off a top 10, starting way late in the cycle.
And BV has 3 titles to his credit. His Clemson D got to top 5 in year 3 and although this one won’t be top 5, it will in the top tier. And D will keep you in every game when then its just a lucky bounce here or there to decide win or lose.
I am not saying we make playoffs. But some of the comments here are from brainwashing years of talking about OU and B12.
We do have the 2nd hardest SEC schedule.after FL. But some peeps forget - every SEC has a harder schedule this year than last. Every team plays either us or the shorthorns. But they don’t lose games vs good teams either - so the whole conference is going to have more losses than normal. A 3 loss SEC team has a decent chance of making the playoffs. Its a changed landscape.
I see a 9-3 season. Lucky bounce either way could mean 10-2 or 8-4.
This is not a LR team of offense only, its a well rounded team with a focus on defense. But don’t sell the offense short either our WR stable is among the best in nation. The key is O like maturing fast and our 5* QB making right reads. If that happens then this is a potent team.

Why would it have been "humbling"?
Your last season in the BIG XII, you finished 8-5. It's not like you went into the SEC a loaded juggernaut and got put in your place.

Nevermind the Sooners I believe you have big time potential on this board. The ceiling is the roof.
