the greatest 5-6 coach in the history of ever.

To be fair, Bear Bryant had back to back 6-5 seasons before he went on a 87-11 run over the next 9 seasons.

If y’all offer $7million/year type money, then you’ve severely overpaid. I still think he’s a good coach. I just don’t think he’s going to deliver the type of success you’d expect.

What do you think the market value is for a top 5 coach to leave a program it built up to win a title?

Guys like Sumlin, Strong, Herman, Mullen are/were making well over 5 M.

Aggie fans are so incredibly intolerable as a whole.

False. He will sell out enough games and sell enough merchandise on hype alone his first season to pay his entire salary for years.

If anything I am nervous $7 million will seem cheap soon if Tenn’s desperation pushes them past that for their next hire. I hope we are ready to go to $9 or $10.

Congrats on the impending great hire. Can y'all take your circle jerk elsewhere though?

My point was that level of success in the ACC doesn’t translate to the same success in the SEC.

Dan Mullen wasn’t paid $5 million a year at Miss St and those other 2 are definitely not worth near that amount of money.

Biggest hire in 50 years?

No. But it would be a good hire.

I think it would be better to build up the hire for A&M.

Clemson the second week of the year and the Bama game is in September now

It is looking like a 6-6 or 7-5 season

With Ole Miss, South Carolina and Arkansas being 50/50.

The market sets the price.

This year will definitely result in another upsurge in salaries.

What strikes me is a bigger issue is not the salaries but the buyouts.

The buyout on Sumlin, for example, if I read it correctly seems crazy. Of course if Gus wins this weekend, I can only guess how insane his buyout would be.

Aggie with Fisher will be better but I still think they will never win the west division. They may knock off LSU finally and beat Auburn here or there but they will never overcome both and Alabama all in the same season. Aggie is just a mediocre, pull one out of their arse every once in a while, program.
