How are SEC Basketball games so much dictated by the Home Arena?

The prime example is Mississippi State Missouri. These two teams played twice in two days, once at State and once at Missouri.
Mississippi State wins easily by 20 in Starkville on Friday Night, but on Sunday Night they barely win by 2 in Columbia.
This is just two days apart. While there's other examples from a longer period of time, I find this one interesting since both of these schools really wouldn't change all that much in 2 days other than venue.
Sure Basketball has always had that aspect but it feels even different in the SEC this year. Thoughts?

SEC has the strongest home court advantage of all 35 leagues this year per KenPom.
Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas are a combined 59-1 at home this year.

Of course the crowds are usually pretty good but they practice everyday in that gym so there is a huge advantage to that. If you’ve ever played basketball in a small HS gym and then go to an arena, it’s really weird, the backdrop etc to judge distances and make shots

It’s not that strange if you think about it. Look at some basketball games where one team wins by 15 or so. A lot of times almost all of that victory margin will be gained in just one half, and the scoring in the other half basically even.
Beating a team twice in a row is really tough to do, no matter how much better you are

That was also our first road win all year

Clearly, the inability of the referees to not significantly favor the home team is a huge factor.

Weren’t both games in Missouri’s gym?

Would be very telling to look at the number of fouls called on home team vs visitors. I think we all know how that would look.

That's just college basketball for you. Mix in atmosphere, comfort of home court, referees playing into the crowd and it adds up.

It’s not just college. Gyms affect shooting based on lighting, rim types/age, background visuals, even the damn ceiling height affects your vision/peripheral.

No. Last Sunday, WBB earlier in the day and MBB that night. The MBB game previously was in Starkville.
