Exactly... in 2008 you went 4-8, with 82k in the stands... so the following year your attendance dropped. So in 2015 if you go 4-8 you're going to have 30k empty seats in 2016. Thanks for proving my point?

So your point is that you shouldn't add additional capacity to a stadium that has averaged 100% capacity for more than a decade because of a few outlier seasons?

Don't let that USCe education come pouring out of you now.

By your reasoning, if there was a season where there was a demand for 130k tickets but the average was 80k for the previous decade, we should build a stadium with a 130k capacity?

Most reasonable people base their expectations on means and medians not outliers.

No, my point is that if you can't average 100% when you're having your lean years, then you don't need to overextend yourself when you're in the fat. If they came to you fans in 2009 and said we're expanding to 100k plus seats you would have looked at the empty seats and laughed at them. But in five years when you are seeing not 4k empty seats, but 30k, will you still be laughing?

The last two seasons were not the norm either, but you want to use them as the impetus for the expansion. In the last ten years you have had six seasons under 100% with three (2003, 2004 and 2006) being lower than the 2009 figures. So you are in fact using the current demand to bunk the trends... but it's your money, piss it away how you want to...

Let's see.

Largest student body in the nation, check.
Produced 12,500 graduates the last calendar year, check.
Geographically in the center of 3 of the 10 largest cities in the US, each within driving distance for game day, check.

Not worried.

Hmmm. There may be some red panties in a Skoal wad after seeing these rankings:

Does it really matter what kind of stadium you have if you can't beat your opponent for almost 30 years in your own house?

It was 14 games, between 1971 and 1998, not '30 years.' You didn't play 30 consecutuve years in Baton Rouge, Einstein.

Funny, you don't mention that LSU won 11 games in the state of Alashama between 1982 and 2011.
11 games in 29 years, almost as impressive as your 14 games in 27 years.

In addition, LSU won 6 of the first 7 meetings in the new millenium, and Miles is 3-3 vs Saban in regular season games, with every single game in doubt until the end. Either team could have been 5-1 or 6-0 in these 6 games.

The do-over Mulligump game was set up for Shama to win from the outset, as the national media wanted a 'rematch' NC game, even though they knew it would have been difficult for LSU to win for a 3rd straight time. They were chosen for their name only.
That's also why a faction of clueless BCS Human Poll Voters had the incredible audacity to vote Oklahoma State, the clear #2 or #3 team in most polls, as #6. This after they had destroyed former #1 Oklahoma to win the Big 12 Title. This faction of voters voting OSU SIXTH, pushed their BCS number BELOW alahsama, and cost them the right to play in the BCSNCG, even after they were told crushing Oklahoma would put them over the top.
But no, let's take the 2nd place team and vote thems SIXTH, just for shits and giggles, and see what happens! Oh goody! Look what we did! WE, just us few idiots - decided who plays for the NC!
Damn are we good or wut! A hyuk hyuk!

In a similar situation in Dec. 2006, Jan. 07, Michigan was not given the do-over vs Ohio State, Florida was named as the BCSNCG opponent for Ohio State, AHEAD of Michigan.

I guess 2000, 2004, 2006, 2010 must have slipped your mind?

Brian Dennehy stadium isn't an impact venue. The game against Aggy last year proved that the only team from Alabama that can overcome a 20 point deficit in Brian Dennehy is Auburn.

At home since 2007:

Alabama 34-7
LSU 36-6

Not much difference.

I'm guessing you missed the point about Alabama's win streak in Baton Rouge. No, there wasn't 30 games there. But Alabama won 14 straight in Tiger Stadium over a 30 year period.

In 2011 when we had a higher average attendance than this year and were 7-6, in 2008 when we went 4-8 and 100% average attendance, in 2007 when we went 7-6 and 100% average attendance, in 2005 when we went 5-6 and had 97% average attendance, and in 2002 when we went 6-6 and had 98% average attendance. And, some of these near-capacity years are following "lean" years.

These years lean enough for you? Fact of the matter is, there is plenty of demand for a larger stadium even in down years and, as mentioned, that demand is growing every year.

And we're not USCe, I don't think we'll sell out every game by any means, but we definitely won't ever see 30k empty seats! HA! Maybe at USCe.

Even if in a couple years we get into another slump and see a drop in attendance, the 100k+ capacity of the new kyle during the most important games will, unarguably, be worth it.

Loathor and other SC fans: I've never been over your way, hope to some day. But for now I can only go on what I have experienced. Kyle has sold out in up years from mid-80's to mid-90's when they didn't lose a home game and in more recent years when they pretty much sucked. I'm sure, though I haven't experienced it yet, that SC's stadium is also a great environment.

FWIW, I've never been to BDS and I've always (until this year) believed Kyle must surely be the loudest. And then I saw an interview with one of A&M's LB's in which he said BDS was clearly the loudest and "those people were retarded". I took "retarded" as a compliment.

No idea about Death Valley - SEC Guy has scared me away from there. Maybe someday.

If there's a point, it's that most all SEC stadium atmospheres are awesome and provide a huge home field advantage.
