I hope Clowney is conditioning his "little" boy to be a Gamecock.

I swear I'm not just playing devil's advocate here, genuinely curious..but what could be done? I assume it was fine enough early in the day then a deluge fricked everythign up, so I mean if they decided in the 2nd quarter it wasn't safe and unplayable what would the options be?
Well, you need to do your research.

The field wasnt fricked due to the weather, it was fricked because they scheduled too many games on it that year......

quote:

The game was notable for its poor field conditions. Eight state high school championship games had been played at the stadium in recent weeks, but the turf was replaced immediately after the last games on December 19. The Champs Sports Bowl, played ten days later, badly damaged the new turf. The grounds crew worked frantically over the next three days in an attempt to get the field in shape for the Capital One Bowl, but ultimately failed. As a result, this was the last Capital One Bowl to be played on grass as artificial turf was installed at the Citrus Bowl several months later.
They new 3 days before the game the field was unsafe. They chose to play on it anyway and not move the game

Who can forget Daniel Weaver, the pride of Little River, South Carolina, hitting a last second field goal to beat Ohio State again in 2002?

Lost in your effort to find pictures of LSU losses.

Only certain LSU people would see a thread about past bowl games as some attempt at a deep state troll.

Outside of the Iowa game, I have no idea if you guys won or lost the other 2.

This is actually State's 3rd Gator Bowl appearance in the last decade. Dawgs lost to Northwestern in the 2013 edition.

You showed the LSU win against Wake Forest in 1979 in Charlie Mac's last game. I have no complaints. Good work.

Taxslayer Bowl

frick that noise. Call it the Gator.

Honestly I have no idea why these stupid arse companies want the bowls to have full on corporate names. IMO that makes them look and sound like low rent early December bowls. It's a total waste of brand equity to take the name of a bowl that has been around for 50 years only to rename it like that. May as well just buy naming rights to several small bowls if all you want is your name out there more instead doing equal cross branding w/the bowl.

Didn't AU have a db that game intercept a pass near the sideline than pitch it backwards into play to a teammate? Random memory but I think I recall AU doing that in a bowl game.

It was Karlos Dansby who amazingly is still in the NFL after about 15 years. I thought it was a year later but it was unbelievable. He did the standing high jump on the sideline and intercepted it and realized he was landing out of bounds so he flipped it to a teammate. The refs had never seen anything like it so they tossed a few flags. I think they finally called illegal touching which made no sense. I can't remember if he flipped it forward or backward but forward would might have been a penalty. I say "might" because I am not a ref but I think you have to have possession to get called for illegal forward pass and he never came down with the ball.

Found it on the webs. Illegal forward pass... Correct call if you can say he had possession without ever touching the ground.
