Petrino is just an average OC at this point. In 2010 his offense was unpredictable and difficult to defend because it was unusual. In 2023/2024 it's just another offense.
That team was loaded with outstanding skill players and it’s a pipe dream to believe we can get that type of talent next year. That said, it should be better than the shite show we saw this year.

He also had really good QBs with a lot of arm talent

Yeah, he definitely didn't have a juggernaut offense with a Heisman winning QB or anything.

His last year at Louisville his father passed away. He admitted that took a toll on him. At Arkansas, his dad was at every practice and every game.
Outside of that season, he did pretty decent to well. He won his division. Had a Heisman QB. Won 8 games or more every year but his last.

Petrino is better than what we have had the past 12 years. And before we point out sins, isn’t him and his wife still together? They have obviously mended after 12 years. If she can forgive him, surely can Joe blow. Petrino just may redeem himself with unfinished business at Arkansas. If he fails, so what? Can’t be worse than these past 12 years

They’re just hiring an interim coach so Pittman can be let go by game 8 or so
It’s exactly what it is. And of course, Bobby is angling to become the next HC. You don’t go to back to back jobs where your boss is on the hot seat, unless you’re looking to try and take over yourself when they’re gone. Most normal folks would want stability, but he’s looking to get back to a big time HC job so willing to take risks.
Will be interesting to see how it plays out, he may be old but it shows he’s still got the drive to compete, time will tell if the game has passed him up as you can’t really judge what he did at A&M for less than a year as he was mainly just calling plays from Jimbo’s playbook.

This is Arkansas' Bo Pelini re-tread moment.
Expect a quick cleansing of the staff after next season.

I’ve been back and forth with my youngest son on this tonight. Bottom line is, we will win more games and have a drastically better offense than we did last year. That’s all that matters.
Wonder what they think about the Petrino re-hire…

swinging for the big fence and he is obviously the coach in waiting. He was not fired for his indiscretion but he lied about it to his bosses.

Someone post Petrino’s Twitter post from a few minutes ago

If Bobby gets Arkansas back to 8 win seasons, it will be considered the greatest coaching comeback of all time right?

Nah. It would be disgraceful to ask a promising OC to wear Pittman's albatross. This is an attempt to fix one bad firing, four bad hires, and have a chance to hire a decent coach on the other side.
Ask yourself why Petrino would relive the red-faced, neck brace press conference to return. Redemption? or a reckoning.

Prediction: Petrino will be named interim Head Coach at some point and permanent Head Coach at the end of the season.

I see this take too often. If the team is bad enough next year to fire Pittman, that also falls on Petrino. So, Petrino would not return for '25, much less as head coach.
