I’ve heard that even though he’s going to UNLV, if A&M or “one other SEC program” (no idea who) calls him he wouldn’t go to UNLV.
What surprised me is that there weren’t one but two SEC programs interested in Petrino. Seems like a really bad idea.

Coaches who care about their career trajectory and stability may not feel the same way. If Jimbo isn't willing to give up control on offense, I wouldn't want to work for him either. Because if things go bad, that's a mark on the OC as well. Plenty of HCs struggle to land good assistants when they're on the hot seat for that very reason. 2 million a year sounds nice to us, sure, but not for coaches who can make that kind of money elsewhere too

If you're 30 and on the upswing, maybe not. Bobby P is a little long in the tooth. He could stack another 6 mil over 3 years, then cash in his chips and dedicate the rest of his life to crashing Harleys with side-pieces on the back full-time.
