Love it
Auburn needs to embrace the Ole Miss rivalry. They are easier to get up for than Vandy and the opposition has been constantly chirping since 2021.

Texas A&M and LSU have played each other 63 times, dating back to 1899.
Ole Miss and Texas A&M have played each other 13 times total.
I’m not dying on any hill regarding either one of these opponents remaining on our permanent schedule, but to put them in the same category on a list of “protected rivalry games” for A&M doesn’t ring true in the least.

If Arkansas doesn't want to play Mizzou (which seems to be the general consensus). I would like to propose a 3 way trade with UK and MSU. Arkansas gets MSU and we get UK. Mizzou/UK has been low key exciting games. I am tired of all the Arky bitching and don't want to deal with it, it brings me down.

I feel like the difficulty of these permanent rivals is a little overblown. It is not like year's past where you only play a team every 4 or 6 years. The schedule will turn so quickly that if you have soft permanent rivals, you will get cycled through the tough ones annually.
If Alabama has 3 of the big 6 as permanent opponents, they will have the lower tier teams as the rotations. It will all work itself out each year since you will play all rotating teams within a 2-year stretch.
Much ado about nothing...

What rivalry? You mean nothing to us. Between 1953 and 1990 we played a total of 8 times and two of those were bowl games.

I definitely don’t hate it. Not one bit

Close, but Tennessee's got a leg up on every other Big 6 school.

Auburn: Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss
Auburn getting a bit of the shaft there, with the big 2 plus one of the better non-Big 6 teams.
Nothing is going to be perfect, and I get Auburn would probably like to preserve their two biggest/closest rivalries, but in fairness you have to gibe them someone like Vandy to offset an Alabama/Georgia combo.

The hell? Are they smoking something over there?
It's LSU all day long.

Auburn (or Arky would be okay as well).

Alabama and Georgia are locks.
We are the closest school to Florida geographically and have a played over 100 games.

Your HC sure chats a lot about Auburn.
What's your record against Auburn 13 wins to 35 losses right?

I agree, and Oklahoma should have A&M, which would rectify that.
I think what they are doing is trying not to give the new teams all former Big 12 permanents. Not sure it is avoidable.
The problem is Thanksgiving / Rivalry Weekend.
A&M plays Texas. Ole Miss plays Miss State. LSU has no other option other than Oklahoma.

Florida has to drop one of those three. Each team needs at least one gimme.

Mississippi State
Vanderbilt << -- Miss State is not included on Vanderbilt's list (oops)
Ole Miss
Kentucky
Vanderbilt
Tennessee
Kentucky
South Carolina
eta: fixed it with the changes noted in blue.. overall I think it's pretty solid when you account for these changes
Only change I'd like to see is figuring out a way to bring back Florida vs Auburn. I didn't realize they had the history that they do.. that game needs to be played every year imo..

Tennessee has been playing football every year since 1891 with the exception of: 1917, 1918 & 1943 (also had unofficial teams in 1894 and 1895).
With the exception of those years:
Tennessee did not play Kentucky: 1891, 1892, 1896, 1897, 1898, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1905 (9 seasons). They have played each other every year that they fielded teams since 1906 (115 straight seasons).
Tennessee did not play Vanderbilt: 1891, 1893, 1896, 1897, 1898, 1899, 1907, 1912, 1924 (9 seasons). They have played each other every year that they have fielded teams since 1925 (98 straight seasons).

Here is my solution.. and it gives us The Battle of UT..
* changes in blue are to correct the article from the OP, which had issues with teams not counted correctly (ie Miss State is not listed in Vanderbilt's group, but Vanderbilt is listed in Miss State's group)
** changes in yellow to bring back Florida vs Auburn, Ole Miss vs Arkansas and to establish The Battle of UT.

Florida would be getting an even bigger shaft than Alabama.
I'm okay with a tough set of rivalry games, but there should be at least a token attempt at balancing them.
The issue with trying to create balanced schedules while also keeping traditional rivalries? Texas and Oklahoma don't have any rivalries with the Big Six SEC teams. They'll get the Arkansas, Missouri, and A&M's of the world while Florida gets three heavyweights.

Yeah UT and UF aren't traditional rivals. Not like Auburn and UF, that's for sure.
Still, it would probably work out well for Prison Orange. They seem to finally have a handle of Florida, and I don't expect that to change this year.

This is the rub.
Fairness in scheduling should take precedence over muh traditional rivals.
