This can't be stated enough. This team was on a mission and never waivered from the ultimate goal.
Even before the game Herbie said he has never seen a team so focused and confident as LSU before the championship. He said they looked like a pro team.
They finally accomplished it and let loose like kids are supposed to do and now all of a sudden we're a sinking ship?

I am NOT trashing Coach O and LSU over OBJ Monday night. But I can see Coach O taking him to task, telling him he built this motherphucker and he's not putting up with his thuggery. You are banned, OBJ. I bet something like that goes down!

That last part is insanely true. I'd be a little upset if this happened as well at UF after winning a title. Just not smart by anyone involved and can only lead to damage for the school you are supposed to love.

Herbie took the words right out of my mouth.
LSU seems content with this one good season. They don't care about being a championship PROGRAM. They just wanted a championship.
I'm even more surprised that the fans seem to feel the same. They don't seem to care they'll lose 3 games next year.
That's what separates Bama from LSU. Losing more than 1 game is a disaster to Alabama, whereas it's average for LSU.
You don't get any indication they can or want to repeat.
Poor Herbie, he's so used to programs doing it the right way...Alabama wins championships, and then puts their heads down and gets right to work.
LSU is nouveau riche. Alabama is generationally rich.
Alabama is the Rockefellers. LSU is the lottery ticket winners from the trailer park who goes bankrupt, has the IRS after them and has a coke habit in less than a year.

We must be the luckiest bastards on the planet in that we keep winning the lottery after going bankrupt. Typical bama holier than thou b.s.

As an LSU fan I agree with this... In ObJ's case he clearly is cut from a unique mold and its probably fair to say its remarkable we did not see more of this lack of judgement when he was at LSU.
Some people can't handle money and fame. OBJ was likely pretty normal at LSU. And, OBJ has been spiraling down for some time.

A mere snapshot in time condemns the entire program ... okay. These are 18-21 year olds for the most part. Alabama kids celebrated the exact same way when they won it, Clemson kids did it, Ohio State kids did it... because it’s a national championship, and they are kids and they just spent 9 months of every day non stop work to get to the peak. Get over yourself Herb

Hardcore LSU fan here, I think Herbstreit is right.
And I know this will be unpopular, but I think Burrow can be a bit of a punk sometimes.
And I wish OBJ will apologize for his actions Monday evening.

Everyone needs to lay off Herbie, he is just asking aloud. His intentions are well intended of O, LSU, and it's sustaining of elite level consistency like Bama, Clem OSU..
He always talks of these type themes in terms of the welfare of the sport. I know he means well. And I am glad that someone of his industry stature sorta throws out the verbal challenge.
I dont think he would've addressed the subject unless he actually is sorta hoping LSU rejoins those other teams in that level of consistency.
