I assume you're from Brewton, Jay, Northview (Century/Earnest Ward) or Atmore?

Again, Oregon's offense looks amazing because they are executing it flawlessly, not because they are running hunh necessarily. The hunh is just the icing on the cake.
A shite offense running hunh is still going to be shite. Probably even worse because the defense will stay fresh.
Oregon's success is due to having an accurate, smart, athletic qb that gives them the ability to force defenders to defend the entire field with:
Short, quick passes
QB read-option (perfectly executed against FSU)
WR screens
There were 2 back-to-back play combinations in the FSU game that exemplify their game plan. The first was a series of runs that sucked the dbs toward the middle of the field followed by a wr screen to the sideline. The second was a short out route followed by the exact same play thrown to a deeper wr.
Because of the similarity in formations and play development the dbs thought they were setting the same play and got burned. But FSU's defense has been suspect all year. And no defense is going to hold up to the offense shitting the bed like FSU's did.
IMO the hunh part is getting blown out of proportion. People see Oregon and think there's no way defense can compete. But that was a close game until the 5 turnovers blew it open.

So...to sum this thread up....Bert was right.

He ran a pro style offense at . . . Wisconsin.
He most certainly did not. That couldn't be more wrong. Most shotgun usage in Wisconsin history. Spread concepts all over. A read/run rushing attack. Thems the facts.

But Andersen would like to give opposing defenses something more to think about given the attention expected to be heaped on 1,600-yard rusher Gordon. Wisconsin isn't going vogue and turning into a spread team, but Andersen said he's looking at working in "dynamics" of the spread as part of the offense.
"We have pieces of that ... and they did it with Russell," Andersen said in a recent interview at Camp Randall Stadium, referring to former Badgers quarterback Russell Wilson. He played under Andersen's predecessor, Bret Bielema.

As for NC State, they ran . . . wait for it, the spread. I should know since I watched them. But don't just take it from me.
quote:
During his career at NC State, Russell Wilson completed 682 passes for 8,545 yards and 76 touchdowns. He averaged a 55 pass completion percentage, and not to mention his mobility. With the Wolfpack, Wilson ran a variation of the spread offense. He had a very weak running game behind him, and the offense was under so much pressure to score points because the defense gave up just as many points as the Wolfpack scored.

The Fast Break teams should be ruled out to - not fair if other team can't get back on D. Lots of injury potential as well.
It depends on what you think football should be about, if you think there should be more of a strategy component and sides should be able to match each other, then you probably want a rule change.
Rules aren't necessarily bad. You would knock a guy out more if you allowed kicking in boxing, but that isn't what the sport is about.
Obviously it is just a preference thing. Personally i think the tables are tipped too heavily on the offenses favor. Bringing more parity would be good.

Not saying Mariota isn't great, but where are the three QBs prior to him at Oregon right now?
Hell, Darron Thomas had more TDs in his second year at Oregon than Mariota did in his second year. Where is he now? What about Jermiah Masoli? Dennis Dixon?
It's the system. Not the player.
Like Kirk said, If they tried to run the same plays without the tempo, it wouldn't work.

Maybe defensive minds shouldn't be retarded and adapt. Or at the least condition their players to keep up.
That's all they need to do. Recruit players instead of specialists.

We are actually advocating for less rules. No 5 yard contact rule on receivers, no targeting, no roughing the passer. I would be happy if all of these were taken out.
