UFowns- I am only 25 and didn't start following CFB outside of UGA until senior year of highschool I am guessing a missed a lot of Bowdens mishaps. I know of the online cheating scandal and the FSU (free shoes university) bit but never knew of the others. He must put up a helluva front on t.v. Let's be honest you can't blame him for some of the stuff that went on. That's like blaming Tubbs for the Sociology teachers scandal and the crap that Lowder pulls. Curious, what are some other things Bowden did?

I wouldn't expect Gator fans to view Bowden any other way. Personally, I've never really liked him, but I respect what he accomplished. Plus, he's from Birmingham and started his playing career at Alabama. Still remains an Alabama fan to this day. He also helped get Saban started in coaching.

I at that pic every time I see it.

Coach Mullen is doing a great job promoting our program, and I look for big things from his team this fall.

I'm impressed by Mullen, class guy and I hope he does well. It would be nice to see MSU get the program up some.

Obviously you didnt keep up with us at all last year after the Auburn Game, we made constant improvement and were a couple plays from going to a bowl game. I really think coach Mullen will lead us to 6 or 7 wins this year.

here's some more of that show LINK /

quote:

The last caller was apparently an Ole Miss fan and asked him why he referred to UM as “the school up north”. Said Mullen: “Geographically, they’re located up north of us. They’re the school up north up there.”

The fan shot back and criticized his class, saying “what comes around goes around, coach!”

Mullen replied with this: “We’re looking forward to going up there next Thanksgiving, I’ll tell ya what!”

Eh, poorly done. He should have shot back and said:

quote:

But coach, direction is all relative. Of course, there is a magnetic north and a "true" north but, in the grand scheme of the universe, one must ask what is up and what is down? What is left and what is right? As our planet is hurled through the solar system by the Sun's gravity at incredible speeds, turning and winding through the cosmos, we can never really be sure what direction we're looking at. Furthermore, coach, should Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Arkansas refer to Ole Miss as 'TSUN' as well? To them, we're a geographically southern destination. The monniker lacks consistency and a real understanding of the concept of direction and from whence said directions eminate. But, I digress. Go frick yourself you goofy, babyfaced, obsessive bitch.

THAT would have been awesome.

Agreed. If you listened to the interview, you would have heard how Mullen owned this guy and made him sound like an idiot on the air. The caller also tried to use last year's recruiting class for ammo, and Mullen was polite and somewhat whitty to the caller.

Like Mullen said, see you Thanksgiving weekend.

Meh, we've got bigger things to do between now and then. Haven't really been thinking of it at all. That's the difference...

Mullen said that when the TSUN as he puts it fan was trying to make him look bad on live radio. You can ask anybody who listened to the show, Mullen handled himself, Finebaum, and the callers in a very professional manner.

And as for Thanksgiving weekend, we have lots to do before we get there as well, we just look forward to winning in Oxford to be iceing on our regular season and a sprginboard towards our bowl game.

Of course he did. He isn't going to act like his regular a-hole self when he is representing a school he works for on the radio.

The really successful classy coaches are a dying breed. Joe Pa, Bobby Bowden, Mack Brown, Vince Dooley all got it done at a high level w/o acting like total pricks and belittling people.

Too classy for that fanbase, from my experience. But then again, this IS the SEC...we've got some shitty fan

The MSU fans that I have come in contact with over the years have been above average on the classy scale. Their football program lacked class during the years Jackie Sherrill was there, but that was to be expected.

FWIW Mullen was rumored to be an a-hole with a potty mouth. Many didn't like him- dry as crackers too.

And Urban isnt????

Dan seems to have a great personality and is always visible to the public so far here at Mississippi State. He is at basketball and baseball games and this tour is also a great way for him to get across the state.
