Can we all agree “silent” commits mean absolutely jack shite? I would say even initial solid verbal commits only stick maybe 70% of the time, if that.

If that’s so why do y’all still suck so much at football???
At some point will get enough talent to prevent the staff from messing things up on saturdays.
....maybe.

A&M has recruited Hicks since the eighth grade. OU tried to use the depth chart against us, but most of that class has already played, unless hurt. We have a lot of freshmen in the two deep.

Then....30 minutes before the announcement.....Hicks says he's going to A&M.
Did he come out of the closet at the announcement?

If so, then why did Hicks tell them he was still going to OU shortly before the announcement? Was he being conspiratorial in deceiving OU that he was going there after all this time?
I dont know but brent venables had a high four star linebacker do the same thing to A&M when he was DC for oklahoma, and that was before NIL. What goes around comes around.

Payback for Corey Nelson...for you old farts. :)

They need to quit wasting all that money on DL and find a QB. They have plenty of highly rated D linemen. That offense is the problem.

College football aint what it used to be.

A&M knew ahead of time, but they did a great job keeping it under tabs.
In what way do you know this? Or you just believe everything you hear?

This is college football now. That's just a shitty sentence to read. Disagree all you want. Don't care.
I will say the portal has somewhat evened the playing field for smaller schools to pull in more talent to compete.

Good luck to him. I wish the best.

It has helped smaller FBS and FCS schools.

This I will agree with as a silent commit is a joke.

In the grand scheme of things, it’s not like this is the only time a highly sought after recruit has changed their mind right before a commitment. As others have said, A&M recruited him hard and had been for years, it’s not like we just showed up out of nowhere.
Of course NIL and $$$$ will be the low hanging fruit most will point to, especially sour grapes ou fans. People mention his dad/family wanted ou more and had bought ou gear already, sometimes the kid can surprise even their own family. Reminds me of a safety we got years ago, Floyd Raven, who was predicted to sign with us, but somehow signed with ole miss initially, until it was found out his mom forged his signature because she wanted him there. They got it corrected and he played for A&M like he wanted and had a pretty good career his few years with us.

That's great for Hicks. Now he can look forward to losing to teams like App st with a coach who won't be fired for his crappy offense. Well done Mr. Hicks. You future is 8-4.

So are hard commits, until the ink is dry, and even then they can pack a bag and portal away.

Well, I literally watched the video about one minute after the announcement.

Corey Nelson. He pulled the same stunt as Hicks but ended up with the Sooners. People act like this shite doesn’t happen all the time in recruiting.

A&M led for 5 years for Hicks. It was considered 50-50 for 2 months.
Hicks told his hs staff, a recruit buddy, and texags a week ago it was a&m.
He had custom video game style announcement already made for A&M, and texags immediately posted a video interview previously recorded.
This 30 min stuff is all bs, OU beat guys whiffed, and they're throwing shite against the wall to make themselves look like they weren't wrong.

Our supporters have a lot of money.
NIL is legal.
We suck at cheating re: Dickerson (see below).
Sliced Bread (probably this same reporter) is a homer.
Hicks lives less than an hour and half drive from campus.
He will play in from of over 100,000 fans for home games.
Big Red Motors used car fleet consists of 2 Yugo's and a lime green Gremlin.
Greg "Corvette" Pruitt finished school at OU years ago.
Eric Dickerson won't return the Trans Am.
