Has any team ever beaten the same team twice in one season?

I mean, we know it didn't happen last year.

It's very hard to beat the same team twice. I'm curious if it has ever happened.

Bama beat Florida twice in 1999, once in the Swamp and another time in Atlanta.

Auburn beat Tennessee twice in 2004, once in Neyland and another time in Atlanta.

I'm trying to think of others.

So you're saying Georgia has a chance.

Yeah, SC was the only team to have to face Cam twice. Nightmare

Stanford beat UCLA twice within 7 days 2012. Once in game 12, and then again in the Pac-12 championship game.

Texas beat OU twice in 1901. The second one was a much needed victory after falling 48-0 to the Kirksville Osteopaths earlier in the week

Has happened... but all shared one huge distinction from the Tenner/ UGA scenario. They played twice.

List of college football post-season games that were rematches of regular season games

quote:

There appears to be a clear advantage in a bowl rematch for the team that lost in the regular season, as the regular season losers have a record of 16–7 in post-season games, and in five of the losses the margin for the team that won twice was smaller the second time.

Y’all had the weirdest year that year. 9-5 is not a record I’ve seen before or since.

This is why the SECCG started CFB down the road to ruin.

One of the great things about rivalries used to be bragging rights. You beat your rival, you get to beat your chest about it for 365 days.

Now you're lucky if you have a month or two. And a stirring, program-defining victory in the regular season becomes an afterthought if you lose the inevitable rematch.

Now think about how it's going to be when you face one of your rivals three times in a single season. It's coming. And it will suck.

I'll see myself out.

That first game was an epic, 40-39

The second one was an absolute slaughter, 34-7 - after hearing for a week about how no one could EVER beat Spurrier twice in a season.

Then it was done by Mike DuBose and Gene Chizik...

No it is not. Happens all the time in the NFL. Would happen more times in college if teams played each other twice more often.
