it doesn't matter what they do with money they are not supposed to be receiving. The way you tell it, it would be ok for a heroin dealer to sell his stuff on the streets but it's ok because he took care of mom.
they ARE breaking the law because of a little something called tax evasion. Did your guy pay taxes on the 2500 doubt it, did Mom doubt that oo

But what does he do to bring the conference value? The sports programs bring in the value. He doesn't have to sell a damn thing because the product sales itself.

Well if I chose not to pay taxes and give that money to my mom that would be nice but not legal either.

Aren't they actively involved with television contracts, negotiations for the SEC Network? I'm sure a lot of other things. I'll see if I can find out, because I honestly don't know.

Start with Bentley first and work your way around.

So we are in agreement that Bentley and Tunsil are dishonorable and worthy of condemnation?

Glad there's some common ground.

I doubt that Boss Hog paid any taxes on the money he received either. Let us all stop this game of ignorance like no player on your favorite team gets money. They do and will continue to do as well.

Since when has it ever been the responsibility of the school to take care of student's families?

Following up on my first comment, it has never, nor should it ever be the responsibility of the school to look out for anyone other than the student.

And schools do perform this function via providing an education AND a stage on which to showcase athletic talent. Someone please quantify the exposure to professional leagues that collegiate athletes receive. You can't, and this is why student athletes shouldn't get paid.

Now if a kid were ready for the pros straight out of high school, but was forced to go to college, then I can see an argument in support of paid student athletes.

Well I'm just tired of everyone playing this stupid game like their team's players don't get money from boosters. Stop judging and being all preachy about Ole Miss if you aren't going to get preachy about your own damn school.

How much tax does one owe on $2500.00?

getting paid. He said that most of the money that players get from boosters or whomever, goes back home to their mother or grandmother for things like what we saw in the Tunsil text messages. He told me of a story about one player that got like $2500.00 after a big game back in 2000. He said the player sent $1500.00 back home with his mom and he kept $1000.00. I know it isn't right by the letter of the NCAA's law, but not all of these guys are tpos that blow through the money, some actually look out for their loved ones. It's not, nor it should be, a child's responsibility to take care of a household, but some circumstances are not in their control. I commend Tunsil for looking out for his mom,
it is obvious his pos step dad wasn't.

BS. Unless maybe it helps them get to see there kids games or visit. Where would they get $ to pay bills if the kid want a fb player on scholarship?

None. Monty says it's all good if you evade taxes, because other people are doing it too.

You'd be surprised at how many people on here genuinely think their program is "doing it right". Multiple fans on here have said programs like LSU, Bama and Florida don't cheat because they don't need to. It's retarded
