Cristy needs to sit him down and explain $32 M and what it means in relationship to their marriage.
That if he fricks this up he will be living at the Jimmy Hale Mission and driving a Ford Falcon.

And calling a north Birmingham crack ho Momma.

I’m not even trying to be a horse’s arse but what an idiot. I’m not giving away money promised to me if they decide to fire me. I mean aQB injury, a RB injury an OL injury can send it all down the tubes.

What if the reduction is only 5 mill? We don’t know how much it’s reduced.

The reality is that he could be giving up 5 mill to coach another year. There’s more money in the full contract than the buyout. We really need to know how much of a reduction it is to say it’s 100% dumb on his part.

Auburn can’t afford the buyout so this is the next best option. Next year will be a true lame duck season.

If I had signed the 32m contract and was called in to renegotiate the first words out of my mouth would be “Hold on just a minute, I need to speak to my lawyers. “

We have no idea who he spoke to. I highly doubt he’s negotiating his own contract.

I would hope not. But he has to agree and he has to sign.

I agree. I think like the OP pretty much says. He’s making a long term bet on himself. He’ll get more money that way. Personally, I think it’s a terrible bet because the only way this has a small chance of working out is if none of this is made public and the university just backed him 100% to the public. They’ve shot themselves in the foot either way now with it leaking.

I dont know if this was more idiotic in Gus' part Or President Leath's part.

On Gus's part, the same stubbornness that got him in this situation has him believing he can right the ship and betting his salary on it..

On President Leath's part he has essentially screwed Auburn over for two seasons instead of one. We will now go into the off-season with a coach that's one embarrassment away from being fired this handicapping our ability to recruit and attract top flight assistants. Next year after Gus goes 6-6 and gets fired we will take a hit in recruiting aw well.

This is why we can't have nice things...

Translation: Jimmy Sexton just told him TCU or Baylor aren't opening up this year.

This and more will be used against Auburn for recruiting. How much it will hurt, who knows. But this is not good.

Auburn needs quality admission and a quality coach to run the football team. It does the UofA no good for you all to be sub par.

I don't think Auburn's state of football has any effect on Bama's with the run they're on. Is it good for the game and SEC to have s strong iron bowl? sure.

This. Is. How. Big. Gus's. Ego. Is.

Gus is not a psychopath. He's not a sociopath. But he is certainly the biggest narcissist on either side of the Mississippi River.

He's not doing anything to favor Auburn at this point, because he was never doing anything to favor Auburn at any point in the past 9 years minus 2012.

This deal is not good for Auburn's recruiting? LOL! He doesn't care because he's just buying time folks.

He knows one of the other biggest narcissists on the planet in Dallas, and it's a club of former poor Arkansas boys who seriously need for the Good Lord to bring them back down to earth - would do them good - but it's not happened yet.

Gus thinks he's Jimmy Johnson yall. Get it? He's not Jimmy Johnson of course, never will be, but there's no convincing his ego of that. Get it?

He would have loved to escape Auburn in the next few weeks, in the vicinity of the greater outskirks of Dallas, to be close to his next narcissistic dream. But Baylor or TCU aren't opening up. So he won't be able to shimmy up to his target and begin the smooth stroking whispers into his target's ears.

So Sexton eliminated his close proximity locations for this year. Not happening. So Gus feels he can still siren from afar. At Auburn.

32 million dollars? Every boy from Arkansas wouldn't know what to do in a house worth $900K, much less more than that. It ain't about money.
