I keep reading this thread title as “Gus is wetting on himself”.

And I’m like, “Yep. Seems about right.”

It’s a losing bet. As pissed off as the fan base is and with this renegotiated contract, the first game we lose next season he’s gone.

Gus thinks he's the future head coach of the Dallas Cowboys baws.

That's laughable. We all know. But his ego doesn't know.

I feel bad for laughing

It would have been 16 million up front and 1.6 million a year for a decade.

Is it me or would Gus be incredibly dumb to accept a lesser contract?

Gus is an idiot if he takes a reduced buyout. Maybe money doesn't motivate him - maybe he truly loves Auburn - whatever is motivating him to make this terrible decision defies logic. Maybe he's just stupid.

It doesn’t make any sense. I’m thinking it’s complete bullshite and Auburn’s covering their arse.

If this is Auburn’s way of covering their arse, they’re doing a horrible job of it. They look worse than Gus in this scenario.

Auburn will be fine, Gus will be fine, recruiting will be fine. This is “Auburn” at its very core. >>>>>>JABA, The Family is All In.

Gus should be fired for stupidity if he actually agrees to a reduced buyout.
Exactly! I wouldn't want a coach that was stupid enough to do that!...and I'm talking about the Auburn administration, too.

Have you not watched his coaching lately, beginning with the fiasco against Clemson, three seasons ago?

Remainder of contract is what? $42m? I way a sane person takes a reduced buyout. You call auburn’s bluff. You tell them “I’m not leaving. I’ll turn it around. If you don’t want to give me the time to do that, that’s your choice, but it will cost you the full $32m”. Then just walk out. He has ALL the power in that negotiation, but some people can’t take emotion out of it.

He looks weak and desperate here. They don’t want you, Gus. Why would you want to stay somewhere that toxic where you aren’t wanted when someone will pay you $32m to go away?

He’s damn sure been neutered, and apparently he “likes” it.

You do you Auburn!

It’s pride and ego, but I don’t think Auburn was ever going to pay him 32 mill to go away. Gus just broke first. If Auburn’s true intent is just to save some money and can him in a year, then they fricked up by letting this get out. They’ve essentially crippled the program for another year. Gus must think they’re going to give him a real chance if he agreed to this though. Either way, this leaking publicly isn’t good for either party.

After stuff like today happens u think auburn is done. That program is a mess.

Then they go 12-0.

It's almost like they work better under dysfunction.
