You’re right. The schools negotiated the TV deal with ESPN that you brought up.

They are actively involved in the process indirectly via consultation and they are involved in the process directly with the final vote.

Being able to say no is part of negotiations, and that happens multiple times before the schools agree, usually in consultation rather than vote.

The schools are basically like a board of directors.

You brought it up?

You’re criticizing Sankey’s actions & defending Sankey because LSU makes you unable to see straight.

Stay dumb.

You greatly overestimate the fricks I give about LSU.

Talking out your arse 24/7. Sankey negotiated the TV deal.

Do you think the conference commissioner does nothing & doesn’t matter?

I never said he does nothing, I said the schools were actively involved in the process both indirectly and directly. The schools have the final say.

The only thing Sankey can do is push for their needs during the negotiations - which the schools consult with him on, and then present the final contract for the schools to approve or reject.

There are likely many informal offers that get relayed to the schools before any formal offer to see how close they are on something that is agreeable.

Just look at the Pac12 a few years ago when the schools rejected the offer and made a counter. ESPN rejected it, and the conference collapsed.

Maybe the administration I have no idea what they think or their motives are but I can promise you Kirby is basically diametrically opposed to Sankeys bullshite and everything he has come to stand for.

That’s really meaningless as it relates to the damage that’s been done to the SEC and its members.

In terms of the general direction of the past 10+ years, then he should be fired. But I'm not sure if he is the problem, or if it's the schools being greedy. If it's the schools, then the problem is deeper.

If you stand back and look at the conference issues from 10K ft you can see the SECs biggest problem is its old academic infrastructure. The member schools Presidents form the board that runs the multibillion dollar business that is SEC Athletics. The business needs to be run by business people rather than a bunch of academics who cant define what a woman is or what is for lunch at the next mtg.

“The schools have the final say”

Kind of like when they unanimously voted to dismiss the lawsuit against LSU bc they realized their individual exposure and Sankey said “nope”. The nativity amongst some of you is ridiculous. Look at how much Sankey, the attorneys, and leadership team make year end and out. It is NOT a partnership. It’s a bureaucracy financed off of the brow of the participating schools who foolishly chose this idiot to run it day to day. He is now doing so in a manner that benefits himself and core team, but not the schools.
