Spent my early years boating up and down roughy 18 miles between locks south of Hannibal and north of Clarksville. Swift and dangerous current, but amazing sandbars. IMO, and maybe in my imagination, but the Mississippi become more polluted at STL where Missouri and Illinois rivers join. Either way rivers are massive ditches and drainage basins. Table Rock Lake is best body of water in MO.

Tennessee River

Mississippi is bigger and more important but it’s not really a southern river. The Tennessee is as southern as grits and bourbon….

It’s the Mighty Mississippi! 2nd longest and deepest river in the USA. The most important river commercially in the USA.

It is an ASCE Civil Engineering historic landmark. It was the first use of ground freezing as a construction method.

The blues, motown, and traditional rock as well. Fame recording studio is a national landmark, and the singer-songwriters (swampers) are legendary

The Hooch is beautiful in most spots but should be disqualified based on the ATL trash filtering through after a rain storm.

Disgusting

Nope. It empties on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River. Kentucky owns to the low water mark of 1792. No runoff comes into the Tennessee from a northern state.

I'm voting Mississippi because it is slowly ridding us of Louisiana.

When the Mississippi makes half time adjustments it usually means big, catastrophic disasters of biblical proportions for a large portion of the US south of Cairo....might better take to high ground and hope for the best...
