I was surprised they hired Silverfield after the results of the last Memphis coaches Fuentes at Va tech, Norvell at FSU, but he has done a good job as far as recruiting we will see what happens on the Field

They won 9 NCs last year. It’s sad but they’re happy with where they are right now

to be fair, nobody knew what was coming the first time Cam took the field at Jordan-Hare either

hell, no one knew Burrow was capable of his 2019 season even after he’d been at LSU for a year already
I remember watching Cam's highlights at Blinn, over and over, just praying AU would be where he ended up. When he officially signed, and I read we got him, I yelled "YES!" and clapped my hands so hard it scared the shite out one of my female coworkers. I had an idea of what we were getting as a player, but no idea of just how great that season would end up. Got the same feeling about Brown with the much-added plus that he doesn't have to learn the coach's system.

3000 yd passer and 1000 yd rusher, coupled with better support and a coaching that routinely puts up 500 yds/game of offense. Lots of sleepless nights for opposing DCs in the Fall of 2026.

Hugh Freeze was the last good "fit" at Auburn. Good ol boy, highly open and expressive with his religion, embraced booster network, felt relationship building was paramount, a down-home Southerner that knows the recruiting landscape and could sell Auburn's brand of "Family & Faith". He pushed God, prayed openly, provided scripture and actually baptized players, he had a strong witness testimony for any fallen sinner.

He recruited lights out and knew how to pump up the fan base with headline grabbing recruits as he yanked 5*'s from rival teams "Freeze Five", "Freeze Warning" were the slogans.

With all that, he was just as stubborn as Gus Malzhan and refused to step away from the offense & let others call the shots. His stubbornness ended his stint, and he will never get another HC opportunity at a program of Auburn's caliber.

which is exactly why i wanted Golesh, he is none of those things

granted, neither was Harsin, but he was also a stubborn prick who talked a “4th and 1” mentality but was chickenshit when it came time to prove it

i dont think Golesh is that kind of guy either

Golesh is a grind guy, who won't bend over backwards to appease the boosters or cozy up to the administration. He seems task oriented, driven, and confident in his ability to put his plan on place. I don't think he will let outside noise affect him or his coaching style.

Gus = a good man, represented AU well, student of the game, stubborn & nerdy, became too apathetic in the cut-throat SEC
Harsin = ego driven, good x's & o's coach, stubborn dickhead who felt he was above SEC style program building/recruiting
Hugh = evangelical, formerly a good offensive coach, stubborn as hell and too quick to blame others for his deficiencies

Six SEC schools have new head coaches.

Based on the new 9 game conference schedule, only 2 of those coaches will be successful within their first three years. And we all know what happens when an SEC coach goes 7-5 or 6-6 year after year.
