Wow,so losing Chubb or Michel won't hurt?

Sure, it will hurt.

It won't be easy, but remember we thought the same about Gurley.
Holyfield will be fine, and picking up Carter and, hopefully Swift at RB....we should be good. And, we should be better at almost every other position group.

The OP of this thread claims that Georgia could compete for an SEC title this year. I personally feel that is an unrealistic prediction.

It depends on what your definition of "compete for the SEC title" is. If it is come close to winning our division? yes. IF Eason were to come on and have a good season, we could push Tennessee for the division title. If it is play for the SEC Championship? no. We certainly don't expect that. In fact, I think, even with Eason playing we are expecting it to be:

1 Tennessee
2 Florida
3 Georgia

Georgia fans are being very unrealistic if they think that a true frosh is going to come in and lead their team to glory.

The smart Uga fans know this, and point towards 2017.

How are y'all's receivers and tight ends looking?

If both left, We would return almost all of our defense, all of our wr's, all of our te's, a few starters at OL, and our starting qb.

And what happened in 2014? I think you owe us one, do you not?

WR is a bit of a question mark outside of Terry Godwin. McKenzie is a playmaker but not really a true receiver. Need someone else, a bigger WR (maybe Javon Wims?) to step up this season.

Tight end should be absolutely loaded if everything goes to plan. Blazevich is good, Jackson Harris is solid, and Isaac Nauta was the #1 TE recruit in the 2016 class.

Probably correct but lets remember Chubb and especially Gurley are generational runners and its a little easier said than done to cut and paste with these guys.

I remember the Barners are here all thinking JJ was just gonna step right in after Cam amd Nick Marshal (Yes,I know it's a different situation and posistion)

Gurley was/is a complete game changer, while Chubb can carry a team on his back.Hopefully the offensive roster will be filled in enough so we don't have to have that much dependence on RB position in '17.

School must have started, thus locking in the other QBs on the roster for this fall and preventing transfer ability. Smart move by Kirb to delay giving Eason the exclusive reps until now.

-Musa was the first 1000 yard rusher we'd had in a decade and we didn't know what we'd do when he left.
-Then the trio of lumpkin/brown/ware balled out and more than made up for losing musa.
-We didn't know how we'd get over losing lumpkin and brown but then we got knowshon, who was our best back since hearst
-we took 2 years off but then had crowell who was very good for a TFr and if he had seen the field more would have easily broken 1000
-He got kicked off after 1 year in summer before the season and we had no idea what we'd do with no proven backs on the roster. Then we were introduced to gurley and marshall.
-In 14 Marshall got hurt early and we didn't know what we'd do with only gurley carrying the load. Then we met chubb.
-When chubb was a no go it was worrisome, but then we turned to sony

I agree that Gurley and chubb are 2 of the better backs we've had in ages and they don't come along every year. But my main point is that until given a reason, I'm not really worried about RBs at UGA for a while. Holyfield will get his reps this year and be the man heading into '17. Also in '17 we add T.Carter and likely Swift who are both terrific. Then heck, the year after that we could get Zamir White who will almost surely be a 5*.

Would never put Chubb or Gurley in the same sentence with any of those previous RB's but as I said earlier lets hope our talent on offense has enough of the holes filled to make up for Chubbs loss.

At the very minimum we should know what we got headed into '17 with Holyfield,
