Not lookin for a pat on the back, but let me just say this.
The thought of Ole Miss and their fans on our turf, in our stadium, brings a smile to my face. Their history, their whole aura. Something special right there. To be in the SEC with this team, sharing a field and battling it out, well, I'm all in. I'm proud and elated to be in this conference.
Welcome to town.

It is kind of weird how Oklahoma basically had no regular season history with the "traditional" SEC until joining I think the only teams we had ever played in the regular season were Kentucky and Vandy until the Alabama series in 2002-03.

Why would you think we have "a brand new team"?

This is a very interesting game. Should be an indicator of how both teams finish the year.
Sooner defense is the best in SEC and honestly gets better with each game. The highlights of the Dline destroying the other team are very enjoyable.
The WR we have this year are what make the offense go.

The CFB world certainly has this manufactured rivalry circled. Brought to you by Greg Sankey.
That said, should be a great game for one of the top shelf coordinators in CFB to finally break through.

Ole Miss has a good shot to win, because you guys have a smart coach.

I have been to Spain. And I'd never choose to go back.
Been to England, Vegas, and Needles and I now live in Oklahoma. That's a great song but Elvis did it better.

I've lived in California, but by the grace of God, I was born and raised in Missouri.

Trivia for the SEC crowd that they might not know.
"Never Been to Spain" was written by Hoyt Axton... Who's mother Mae Boren Axton... wrote Heartbreak Hotel... of Elvis fame.
Hoyt was also first cousins with David Boren... who was Oklahoma Governor, Senator... and OU president for over twenty years.

Weather in games is rarely beneficial to one team over another, outside of strengths of a team.
Good at running the ball? Wet will not phase you too much. We all know that OU can't run the ball, so no advantage to them. It probably favors Ole Miss but they are soft so we will have to wait and see.

Rain is the joker in the deck.
Stanford with John Elway at QB no less, came to Norman and beat Oklahoma in the rain.
There was a night game with Nebraska and a front came through during the second half, the wind and rain was crazy, nebbish won when OU was unable to score after moving inside the 5-yard line.
Anything can happen in a game with weather.
OTOH at least the air temperature won't be 120 degrees down on the field at kickoff.
