It’s the beginning of the second quarter. You are only down 3, on your own 35…why the frick are you going for it?

Also, what’s the batting average for the tush push in that situation? I’m pretty sure it’s 1.00
But nah, let’s snap it back to a guy 6 yards behind the LOS
I love it

Hey, that play picked up a 1st down for him 3 years ago against Troy State, so why not try it against the #1 team in the nation?

The play itself is pretty cool. The timing and execution, not so much.

Let’s decide the game right here..at the beginning of the second qtr

You playing to win?
Or playing to cover?
Or playing to cover?

Lots of teams are doing this. Frustrating as a fan cause a few inches seems so easy to get lined up under center.

the previous play review sealed the fate of this play and unfortunately the game as well. never recovered after this.

I don’t think doing stupid shite when you still have a chance is playing to win. The possible positive outcome (a first down) isn’t worth the possible negative outcome (another score by opponent).

Here's the fallacy with the complaint.
1) who wins the line of scrimmage? Is it the offense or defense?
2) If it is the offense, then the snap shouldn't matter.
If it is the defense, then the snap shouldn't matter.
3) If it is neutral at the line (no side wins)... which option do you think works best? The running back with a 5 yard head full of steam? Or 2 yard head full of steam?
The only part that I haven't covered is if half of the line wins and half of the line loses. The mush rush may (or may not) be a better option. It is no different than rolling dice.

You do realize that Kirby has done this, too?
Nobody gives a frick when you score 40+ points while going 5 for 6 on fourth down.

Or the quarterback keeping and being pushed behind by the running back.

Did you ever play football?

I don’t recall a single time we’ve gone for it on 4th, from our 35, in a game we where we were down by 3 at the beginning of the second qtr.
Which game was that?

It was obvious early that they were going to struggle to stop Beck and the passing game. Going for it wasn't a bad move there. The playcall was. Their running game had worked somewhat to that point. Run your regular offense if you need a yard.

Napier's rationale (probably correct, by the way) was that Georgia was going to score whether they started at the UF 35 or their own 20.

God that linebacker or safety made a helluva play. Kept his eyes on the ball and made a bee line towards the tailback.

Smael Mondon is a linebacker. You make a good point here. Georgia was incredibly disciplined on this play. I think that probably works against most teams they're going to play against this season.

I can’t fault Florida per se. That was incredible discipline by the linebacker. They either had their guys ready for that exact play (likely, Smart learned preparation from one of the best) or the guys are just so well coached they never let their assumptions deceive their eyes.

Even if Mondon doesn't make the play, all of the receivers were covered. We now have a sequel to Fourth and Dumb. Fourth and Dumber.
