Because LSU can prove it was something else. Fields didn't have a suspension waiting and terrible grades.

I have heard the suspension talks several times. Where is this coming from?

If I’m LSU I would be petty as shite and make sure he doesn’t suit up next year.

"Insiders"

Not being academically eligible is more likely. The Florida game was the weekend at the tail end of finals week. So, I guess he could have finished finals and left as soon as the academic semester was over.

It's too late to add classes for this Spring. But this is big time college football. I'm sure they're figure out some way for him to get 12 hours credit before the end of summer.

Hmm. Then the transfer to UF doesn't make much sense. he must be academically eligible there too. It's not like LSU is a bastion of scholarship. If he can get the greats at Florida, he can get them at LSU.

Sarcasm? He is from Georgia and went to HA in Georgia. Wouldn't that only work if he went to UGA or GTECH?

the waiver due to covid should apply if you're moving home. He'll be nearly the same distance from home by going to Gainesville. He should sit one year no questions asked. The SEC better not screw this up.

Who knows what the NCAA will do, it wouldn't surprise me if they granted him immediate eligbility

If they don't, he'll just say that he heard someone on campus say the "N-word" and he'll be granted immediate eligibility. Of course, the fact that the "N-word" he heard was said by just about every black teammate he has/had will be of no consequence.

I would at least demand a second draft pick. Or one of Florida’s 2021 scholarships

Gainesville is only about a couple of hours closer to where he's from. BS on the homesick thing (unless his family moved or he has family there).

Hopefully he is eligible immediately. That way he can be a cancer in the Gator locker room bitching about having to block and lack of targets.....especially after he realizes how limited Emory Jones is as a passer.

Unless we pushed for something different, he will get the same COVID transfer benefits that anyone else is getting.

Which is what?

I knew a guy who played CFB in the early 60's.He told me he was "traded" to Tennessee from Southern Illinois.

Told me it happened to other
CFB players he knew...not sure how true
it was but LOTS of shady stuff went on back then so it wouldn't really suprise
me.

He'll end up being eligible for the Fall. Can't want to see what the UF offense can do with a guy with his skill set!

NCAA will put there foot down now with the way things are.

We'll see I guess. The purpose of the new rule was so players who were playing for teams/conferences that had cancelled seasons due to COVID could transfer and play this year. This is a transfer for next football season, within the same conference, and I'm not even sure this NCAA rule was intended to grant immediate waivers for seasons next school year. There's also the issue of whether he has any academic or disciplinary suspensions he' be facing. Way too much grey area to really say whether or not he'll be playing for Florida in the fall, but honestly I really don't care anymore. I'm just glad the drama with him as it pertains to LSU is over and we can move on.

He should be able to get a better no show job than that.

Was it something else or is this just pure Rant speculation?

Anything posted has been speculation. The rant thinks any time a kid wants to opt out or transfer it's because they were facing a suspension for a failed drug test. They'd rather view the compliance department as a boogie man than than think maybe a kid just wants to leave. It's funny, because I don't recall anyone leaving to avoid a suspension prior and it's not as if the compliance dept has changed nor have players just recently discovered weed either.
