I thought for like a nanosecond we had a game with TCU scored that 7 points. Then I saw the next two possessions from UGA and turn the game off to watch various history crap on youtube.

You think the rest of the country is rooting for Alabama?

Dude, most folks go for the underdog and this was no different. Once it was out of hand in the second (really end of the first), those people tuned out.

Please explain the semi-final ratings.

As a Georgia fan, it was a great game. I don't know what people are complaining about. Very entertaining.

That hooks a little too shiny, WT. Good effort though.

Semifinals should've been #1 UGA vs #4 TCU and #2 UM vs #3 OSU -- probable final would be SEC vs B1G. Arguably better final 4 rankings (OSU & TCU both 1-loss w/o conf titles) and clearly better for TV ratings.

Same.

Last game of the season. I wanted it to be a good game - there were lots of exciting games this year. This game was unwatchable.

Walter Payton’s clone could have dressed out for TCU last night and ran into the back of TCU’s linemen being pushed back.

Wouldn’t have mattered.

That's not it. Bama has become what ND and So Cal have been in the past, people tune in to pull for them, just to see what they look like, or to pull against them because they hate them. I watched ND and USC games during their heyday hoping they'd lose.

Yeah, but that's the point. Once it becomes evident that isn't happening, most people don't sit there and bore themselves with a team they have no real interest in.

Given the rapid population growth in this country, especially in the south where people care, no title game should be less than the one before.

Yet, this is seemingly a worst case scenario for college football. I’m happy for Georgia, such a well run program, great school, and some of my colleagues work there.

However, this is just one more signal that the game is well past its pinnacle as a national game.

The playoff committee screwed this up by not dropping TCU to 4th and moving OSU to 3rd. They were hoping for a Michigan vs OSU finals and screwed it all up. If they did what was right more than likely the finals would have been Georgia vs OSU, tell me how that game went.

I was at home watching the game. Like a good LSU fan, I turned the NC game off at half time to beat the traffic.

That game was played in 2000. The 1999 game was FSU vs Tennessee.

To hell with anyone who doesn’t watch college football. It’s the greatest thing ever invented.

Yep.

The college football has become a shell of its former self. Twenty years ago it enjoyed broad national appeal. Now it's only played seriously in the South and Midwest. USC had to leave the Pac-12 (a conference they practically helped found) in order for its football program to survive. Similarly, Oklahoma and Texas saw the writing on the wall for the Big 12.
