Kirby has recruited five draft eligible players listed as DL during his time at UGA. Two of those were in his first class, which he put together in one month. One was drafted in the second round this year, one would have been drafted but for a knee injury during Senior Bowl practice.

The rest are still on the team or transferred (Cox). Of the ones still on the team, at least three will drafted this coming year (Davis, Wyatt, Walker).

Funny coming from a person who is clearly confused about the topic of the thread.

How is this possible when UGA has had some top notch defenses.

Because OP is leaving off Lorenzo Carter and Ojulari for whatever reason. Carter was a DE during his recruitment and plays DE now.

Yea, The people who know the roster have arrived, and provided much needed education.

Doesn’t know what a defensive tackle (DE in a 3/4) and nose guard are, gets them confused with outside linebackers but is going to educate somebody.

Also:
Julian Rochester 4/5* bust been at UGA forever
Michail Carter 4/5* bust been at UGA forever
Trenton Thompson 5* mega bust
Malik Herring 4* that never lived up to his potential
Brenton Cox 5* transferred before the season
Jordan Davis 3* preseason hype has him as a 1st rounder.
Travon Walker 5* TBD

So 1 guy potentially will have improved via his stay at UGA.

You should read more threads and expand your horizons a bit then.

What was his potential? Was killing at the senior bowl before blowing out his knee.

Dudes had like 3 ACL tears while at UGA. He was also a 4* by every publication. Why add the 5*?

Jordan Davis 3*

Was a projected second day draft pick before returning

Wasn’t even a top 100 player on any publication. Why add the 5*?

It’s okay for you to admit you didn’t watch uga play as much as your obsession with uga would imply.

If you understood how football works, you would know Azeez essentially played the traditional DE role at uga, the edge setting pass rusher.

Our draft eligible DL after the 2021 season are as stacked a group as we have had since the early 2000s

You list Brenton Cox as DL.

But you leave off Aziz Ojulari (round 2, 50th pick of the draft. Listed as Edge defender on nfl.com and played the same position as Brenton Cox).

You leave off D'Andre Walker (5th round , pick 168. Again, played the same position as brenton cox.

You leave off Lorenzo Carter (round 3, pick 66. Again, played the same position as brenton cox).

Are you seeing your mistake?

I started to list him but the NFL considers him an OLB not a DE. Cox is still considered a DE by Florida. Just because a guy walks up to the line in packages doesn’t reclassify him.

But if this doesn’t satisfy you I can gladly remove Cox as he will not be a UGA DL that gets drafted regardless.

I was surprised that Kirby doesn’t take many Dline guys. Given that DTs and NGs should account for 6-9 roster spots in a 3/4 he just doesn’t recruit them. The DEs he takes generally play standing up and don’t grow into DTs or NG guys. I get that he trades size for speed but he should be taking 2-3 a year.

Just so you can show off how smart you are, what kind of defense does UGA run for our base package?

You got a link for that?
I was just on the nfl.com draft page and it specifically lists Ojulari as Edge.

Rodney Garner left UGA after 2012 season. Wonder if that might have something to do with it.

What the player does on the field is what truly classifies a player. It’s far more relevant than what letters people choose to put next to a name, which seems to be the extent of your football knowledge. Try watching a game.

He helped create that weakness before he left.

Hybrids that play OLB are OLB. DTs in a 3/4 are treated like DEs. It’s not that hard. Carter played hybrid OLB in a 3/4 and is an edge rusher in the NFL.

Why would a DT be treated like a DE?

Why not treat DTs like DTs and DEs like DEs?
