So Auburn winning one national championship in 2010 makes Auburn a National Championship contender eight years later? Exactly how long does a past National Championship keep a historical 8 win team a yearly contender?

Just taking a stab at it...but since 1980 Auburn as been selected national champion in 1983, 1993, 2004 and 2010...plus they played for the national title in 2013. So that is 5 times where Auburn had a team that was considered a national champion caliber team. I am not talking about almost beating a team then hoping you'd won a national title game. I am mean some poll or selector chose Auburn as National Champion or they were in the final game. Since 1980 uga can claim that twice.

You’ve got to be kidding me. The NCAA recognizes Auburn as National Champions in 2010 and Co- Champions with Ohio State in 1957.
