I just don't think that happens, but holeee frick would it be funny.
It would be extremely Mississippi, and by, "Mississippi," that includes both D1 colleges if he did that.

The funniest thing in all of this is LSUsedtobe. Don't think for a second they're not melting at the smoke.

I would be SHOCKED if Lane left ole Miss during a playoff run. That would be crazy. And honestly shame on him if he does. I say that as an LSU fan.

Same. It would be the most slimey move in the history of college football coaching changes. And that’s saying something.

You have poor ole miss who’s having the best season in living memory. And everything about it would be tarnished. I would straight up give up as a fan forever if Elko did that to us this year……the cost to ole miss would be 10’s of millions. Their players would flee. It would be a quasi death penalty. So terrible for the sport

Can you imagine what recruiting would be like? How could a recruit from any decent family believe anything from such a snake?. Ole miss will leak the dirty details and coaches everywhere would have epic negative recruiting material against Florida prospects

He spent all this time on building back his reputation. He’s currently well liked today. All of that flushed down the toilet instantly and he’d be the most hated coach for a long time. Even the other coaching buddies he has would turn on him. His daughter would have to leave school at ole miss in the middle of the night and never come back

No, and hoopshizz is usually accurate. But nothing is final yet. It can’t be. And if it isn’t final, it can change.

Just like hoopshizz has got a recruit prediction wrong before. He could have legitimate insider news of the highest quality. But sometimes kids change their mind at the last second, surprising everyone. Similarly MoU aren’t binding.

Everyone here needs to remember this is the NEW era of CFB.
NIL, portal, movement before and during playoffs, all of it.

It would be hilarious. But I can’t wish that upon any fanbase. No matter how funny.

LSU however, they are brining that storm on themselves.

No one with any sense thinks that will happen. Just laughing at the idea of it.

You make good points. But let me remind you of L Riley. Ot was found out after he left that he knew he was leaving 3-4 weeks prior to leaving. We had a playoff team and mysteriously lost winnable games late season including Bedlam.

During the games many OU fans were complaining how the team looked way off and all the strange play calling. Like sending 3 WRs to the same spots. And many many more head scratchers.

Once je bolted and then go back and look at games its so obvious he was calling low percentage plays. Because players trust their coach they run them but you can tell he quit caring. He could not afford to win Bedlam else season is extended for playoffs. He wanted to leave over playoffs, because they offered him so much money. He sold out

Also of note, as slimy of a snake he was -players still transferred with him.

Lane would have no problem recruiting.

The biggest thing with all these coaching changes is who they can hire as OC/DC. Those are the real coaches and make HC look either good or bad. Is the pool of them good or can the schools pay their buyouts to get on team?

Lane better be checking for a boiled rabbit on the stove if he turns down Florida.

Florida has gotten downright obsessive/creepy over this.

This would be pretty puzzling, Lane has the leverage in this situation. Why wouldn't he want to see it through with this Ole Mis team?
I don't believe it

Hopefully Lane throws tomorrow's game against us like Riley was doing.

But won’t that hurt your draft position?
