Sounds about right.

Fun fact to the fun fact, most of them actually went to Mississippi, more specifically Biloxi, and the large majority of them died. The ones that survived eventually migrated to New Orleans. LINK

You say that, but can you even imagine the difficulty of settling the untamed swamps of Louisiana in 1719? There is a reason only career criminals were offered this deal

You forgot Pirates.... Course for Tennessee Louisiana Pirates hold a special place in our hearts ever since 1814. Those salty dogs were Tennessee Sharp Shooters artillery's homies.

But upon further review:
Gotta look into your own facts before posting
“The new immigrants and the old ones were settling in the town of Biloxi (which would later be part of Mississippi but it was part of what was called Louisiana at the time and it was the part that John Law could profit from). But with the influx of criminals and other less than ideal immigrants, many of the well-to-do immigrants who had come in an attempt to shape the new colony found themselves unwilling to stick around. They started moving East to New Orleans to get away from the starving criminals that were invading their little town.”
So New Orleans got the best of Biloxi (admittedly low bar there) and the whores and criminals set up in present-day MS.
ETA: Sorry…Sooner beat me to it.

If marrying whores and outlawing in the swamp is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Reminds me of the old Sugar Bowl joke.
Why would the Sugar Bowl committee pray every year that neither Mississippi school not win the SEC?
The Mississippi fans brought the Ten Commandments and a ten dollar bill to New Orleans and would break neither one!

Well, being from Alabama, I'm quite familiar with the practice. I mean, ours are amateurs to your professionals, but they do try their hardest.

Doesn't matter, had sex

Someone had to go to work for the bosses. With the lack of response to job openings these days, I wouldn't mind being able to offer a hooker as part of the compensation package.
