Quite colorful. I dont remember those types of trees on any part of campus.
pretty sure the artist is from fricking Maine or something. We don't have fall round chyer, pardner. Get with the program. It's live or post oak, ya here?

I also wonder if those corner "pavilions" will have covered party decks (for lack of a better term) on top...
The upper concourse is on top of those and there is a pergola covering it. You can see it in these images.

Do I see Bear Bryant's name in one of the pictures?

i was about to post that. we would fricking put his name up

I would expect corporate sponsors or rich guys who donated significant cash (think Bernard Richardson Zone) to be over the entrances. Bryant, Gill, Bible are place fillers.

you sure that corner isn't named for Kyle Bryant? We could use him about now...

Best in the nation. Beter than a ton of NFL teams. We are the Joneses.

It is going to be nice. I'm also concerned with what they are going to do to overhaul Spence Park. Are they going to get rid of that sloped creek? Stagger it?

That little valley is already under-utilized. Never understood why it's not jam-packed with tailgaters on a regular basis.

I think I am one of the few aggies that doesn't really like it. Reminds be of the ballpark in Arlington (rangers.) Looks like they are going to pickup a bunch of bricks from acme and slap them together to make a new stadium.
I was hoping we'd go unique and different. To me it is the same old stuff we see everywhere.

Because it is hard to place a tent on much of the slanted land. They really need to overhaul. I love the rowdiness of Reed, but the trees in Spence make it my preferable spot. I just isn't as great as it could be.

Is it still going to smell like bat shite?

I used to have the same old feeling for every project we did. We went half-arse every time from the expansion of Olsen in about 95 to Reed to the Rec Center to the Zone. Each (well other than the ridiculous temp bleachers at Olsen) had things that were okay but none were done with the foresight you would expect. They all lacked any sort of character or interest exactly like your concern (and it's how I feel about the Ballpark too though at least it's really, really nice).
The decisions were being made by a bunch of accountants and didn't consider things like aesthetic appeal, environment, or wow factor in growing the fanbase. It always seemed we left things looking like they were done on the cheap (and they usually were).
But in the last few years, things have changed. The new MSC looks great. But more specifically, the new Olsen is fantastic. I saw the renderings for it and thought that looks nice but until I walked it, until I really felt it, I didn't realize what a great job they did. If they are even close to that with these, and Populous has an outstanding rep, this will be done first class. And the long term implications of that are going to be a goldmine.

That is the most beautiful, awesome concourse I have ever seen. Wow.

Not excited about the parking garage placement, but everything else looks amazing. Seems like they're turning Spence park into THE tailgating zone.

This

They really did a fantastic job on the MSC. I'm usually optimistic, but I was fully prepared to hate the results of the renovation, and I wasn't merely pleasantly surprised--I was blown away by how well that project was completed.
Kyle Field is the cathedral of Texas A&M. I'm confident it'll be something to see when it's all said and done.
