So what is the reasoning for them shutting it down. As in their actual reasoning, not necessarily the speculation? I've seen a lot of UAB folks talk about it coming but haven't seen anything to confirm it actually happening or refuting their claims.

Birmingham Fire football > UAB football.

Is their program hemorrhaging money or something? It seems like all these schools are trying to get into FBS to try to get a taste of the money that's involved or is this the Bammers trying to not lose some athletics funding for the real Alabama?
They seem to be better off than Troy and in line with its peers in the sunbelt.

And if not for cock block after cock block, could have had several good coaches, including Jimbo Fisher in 2007.

Enough rape occurs in B'ham.
Y'all are better off being Jimbo free.

Can't disagree with that. Never liked him as a man.

I was wondering what was going to happen with some of their OOC scheduling. Talk about fricking some other teams over in the process.

Dave Hart will replace UAB with Oregon.
Roll Tide, Dave. Operation frick UT is rolling along beautifully.

The rumors from last week are that the football team will play through the 2016 season. But hell, if I was a player I'd transfer NOW, if allowed by the NCAA. If they all transfer though, no FB team for 2015 even.

I understand the frustration and anger toward the BOT but read the first comment below the article. It wreaks of the entitlement that is the problem with the UAB fans.
"...when the fans are easily here and we have a passion for our team...University of Alabama board of trustees refusing to let UAB do anything with an on campus stadium and hinder recruiting efforts..."
A) The fans are not easily there. If they were, they could have gotten more than 15,000 to attend most of their games, and,
B) Expecting the BOT to build them a $75 million stadium when considering the above is a little more than just "refusing to let UAB do anything."

CBS Sports reporting that UAB will fire it's AD and shut the football program down.
