I have lived in Alabama for 24 years now and I have NEVER met a UAB football fan.
Even the people I know who went to school there cheer for Alabama or Auburn.
I've met UNA, Troy, and even USA fans - never a UAB fan.

I've been to more UAB football games than most UAB students have.

Why are ao many UAT fans so happy about this?
They just cut out schollys for students, jobs for coaches and OTJT for students getting a degree in sports med field.
It's really shameful. Especially with all that UAB provides for this state.

I don't think anyone is particularly "happy" about it.
I just don't care.
UAB football wants welfare from UA.
You want UA to pay for an expensive arse stadium? Well, how about you put a few asses in some seats first.

Terrible thing for Bama to do to this school

Chicken before the egg, etc... They had a good thing going for a while but UA would never allow them to build on said success.
Tennessee has held Memphis football down for decades but would never dream of trying to shut it down.... that's some cold blooded shite.

I'm not happy about it, but rather indifferent. I am tired of them and the Awbs claiming that it's UA is scared of UAB and that this is just a way to protect the University.
If their fans had been filling up even a quarter of Legion Field on a regular basis, then, I think the BOT should build them a stadium. They haven't, and, asking the BOT to spend that kind of money when they won't support it, is just fiscally irresponsible.

There are a few who tailgate at every game.
I've never met any outside of that though. Even when I was in school there no one really talked about UAB football. More talked about basketball.

Asses in seats?
You really expect people to rush week in and week out to Legion Field? No thanks, I like my body with the current openings it has.

UAT would have never allowed them to have an OCS under any circumstances. Don't fool yourself. UAB has a large enough endowment to sustain a football program.

If it wasn't for handouts from the system, they wouldn't even be able to afford the toilet paper for restrooms in Legion Field, let alone sustain a D1 football program. Instead of recognizing the philanthropy of the board, the very few fans they have bitch and moan and try to portray UA as a villain. Well frick them and good riddance.

They play mostly day games. The area downtown near Regions Field (where the OCS would go) isn't exactly a "better" area and probably wouldn't have as much parking in a guarded parking lot.

University endowments aren't fricking used to sustain football programs.

Uh, schedule a Bama or AU game at Legion Field for next season.
Asses. In. Seats.
Hell, schedule a UNA or Troy game at Legion Field for next season. Their attendance would dwarf UAB.
Let's face it - a new stadium for UAB would not increase their attendance enough to justify the costs. Bottom line.

Now you're not being completely honest. UAB has built and continues to build around Regions Park.
5 years ago it was a shite hole. When you build nice things you run off the bad element.
