Bret Favre should be on the Mississippi list.

Saying Deion had a better college career than Derrick Thomas is laughable

I mean Jameis won a natty, heisman, and went to another playoff. Clearly isn’t the right term.

Devonta Smith over Peyton Manning.

Heisman and two national championships. Catching the game winner in one.

I'm a Favre fan, but I think in this case he's known more for the NFL than college (although I believe he held several Southern Miss records).

Sorry our quarterback had better rushing stats than the best player/running back in your history. Oh while also throwing for 3000 yards and 30 TDs.

ETA: While the above is true and trolling aside the fact they state in their criteria it's based on the entire college career and still chose Cam is pretty laughable.

MISSISSIPPI: Jerry Rice (Starkville)

Who else was in the running: Hugh Green, Archie Manning, Steve McNair, Walter Payton
Brett Favre should be on that list too.

That list shows just how incompetent Ole Miss and State were until the 90s

I disagree, they were both fantastic college and pro athletes. Hard to compare playing different positions, but both were generational talents at what they did.

Really really really bad list. And, birthplace should not be the criteria. High school should be.

Regardless, it is a horrible list.

Saying that Derrick Thomas was the best from Florida is a false statement.

After all these years, I still have had no one make a good argument that Peyton was the best ever in college at anything other than mooning. He had a great NFL career, but in college, he wasn't even the best QB in the SEC. Well, he did have the best last name and name recognition. Mr. Happy feet.

Billy Cannon won the Heisman. Took LSU from nothing to a national championship. Peyton choked against Florida every year.

Cam Newton was also a better professional football player than Herschel Walker.

He also had more rushing TD
Thats funny.

You’ve obviously never looked at Herschel’s pro stats.

This happens to be the one that stuck out to me the most, but honestly I don't really know what Payton did in college (Jackson State).

On a related note, I'm also reminded at how fricked up it is that he died at age 45.

Seems like they went against their own criteria in picking Cam from Georgia. His place on the list is based solely on one year
