Jerry Rice is from Crawford not Starkville

He was born in Starkville, which probably had the closest hospital to Crawford, there, and Columbus.

Don't forget about the mighty Blinn Buccaneers baw.

Blinn College

In January 2009, Newton transferred to Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, to play for head coach Brad Franchione, son of Dennis Franchione. That fall, he led his team to the 2009 NJCAA National Football Championship, throwing for 2,833 yards with 22 touchdowns and rushing for 655 yards. He was named a Juco All-America honorable mention and was the most recruited Juco quarterback in the country. Newton was ranked as the number one quarterback from either high school or junior college by Rivals.com and was the only five-star recruit.

You would think a guy with that kind of talent would be seen, he was not.

If you play at Houston high you're pretty insulated from exposure. Like several of MS towns.

The journalists that picked Cam over Herschel must not have seen Herschel play. Can had one legendary season. Hershel had 3 legendary seasons.

He held the Touchdown record for 20 plus years and didn’t finish his eligibility.

The greatest running backs in the history of this leagues were Hershel Walker and Bo Jackson.

We have other great ones but none compared to those two. They were special.

Single season, you could argue for Cam. But the criteria clearly says it is based on entire college career, not one year. If they use their own criteria, Cam isn’t sitting at the same table as Jim Brown and Hershel.

Cam couldn't hold Herschel's jock strap

Thankfully Herschel doesn't have a purse or Cam would be rocking that in 5 different colors & animal prints.

Definitely agree with Cam over Herschel. Wherever Cam played that year, that school would have won a Natty.

Herschel gets overhyped cause Georgia has nothing else to talk about accomplishment wise.

I’d call Herschel the greatest player I’ve ever seen play.

His performance in the national title game was special. Ran for 30 yards more than his teams offensive output with a separated shoulder.

Everyone watching the game knew he was getting the ball on almost every play, and they still couldn’t stop him.

Alexander was a nice running back but Dermontti Dawson is in the Hall of Fame for christ sake.

"This list is based on the entirety of a college career, not a single season" & yet you decided to take Cams one season & some clipping from a website to make your list.... Oh wait did you add his one season from the powerhouse that is Blinn College
